Here we go again 2009! Der Countdown
Wed, 01/21/2009 - 10:27
Von 19. September bis 04. Oktober 2009
Noch 240 Tage, 18 Stunden und 52 Minuten.
Start making your reservations!!!
When will you be there Sunskin? so that I can book a table for my company.
Last I heard, Sun was taking this year off.
As an aside, check your pms….
I have reserved a room at LeMeridien for Sept. 21 thru 24th,, just in case I become rich, and the wife drops-dead or something crazy! Seriously though, I doubt I will return till the first Monday or Tues. of the 2010 (Zwei Hundert Yahre) Fest!
MunichBeerBoy
Alrighty… I was actually thinking about skipping this year as well. But then I realized it is not so hard for me to go for at least a couple days. Can you call the Croatians and get me in for a triple & double Okt. 1 & 2 (thurs, and friday nights?). Prost!
It shall be done sir.
MunichBeerBoy
Definitely planning to attend Oktoberfest this year! It’ll be my first time; hope I survive the excessive drinking
Excessive? Not at all… However, one does get thirsty from time to time.
MunichBeerBoy
Thirsty? Yea about 8am the next morning and you wake up and feel like you have been licking the carpet for 3 days…..
Nothin wrong with lickin or munchin carpet. Oh, sorry, the other thing..
MunichBeerBoy
Chris: I have also mailed the Croat’s a “backup” request via regular paper mail – so they do not forget room (triple zimmer) for: 1.10.09 and 2.10.09
MunichBeerBoy
I’ll be in Munich for at least 3 days… I’m trying for a few more if I can.
I’ll be there on Sept. 29th – Oct. 1st.
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London
“If you are living for tomorrow, you will always be a day behind” – Bill Hicks
$2000 for 25 days? That is barely €57 a day! That would be lunch at oktoberfest.
I just put in a number…. I don’t know how much I’m gonna spend
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London

SUN, Will be there this year also…17 Sep to 25 Sep….. Hope to meet up with anyone this time??? RUGGER
RUGG: I will be skipping one year, as my surgery and Alaska trip set me back this month to the tune of about $11,000 or more… However, several of us from N. Florida and all over the globe will be meeting-up next year on the 1st Monday or Tues. of the Fest im Munchen for the 200 year anniversary…
MunichBeerBoy
Comish: I would plan on spending approx. 45 to 55 EUR per day drinking & tips, plus another 15 EUR for dinner and a snack. If you load-up on breakfast for free at your hotel or B&B – you can drink lunch, have a pretzel or two, then eat a nice dinner, etc.
MunichBeerBoy
Yeah that’s about right for the eating. I try and get a quick breakfast… if I can make it up in time, and then have a late lunch or dinner. Just based on my last trip there… I’ll probably spend a bit more than that on drinking. Should be a blast n’ I can’t wait.
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London
“If you are living for tomorrow, you will always be a day behind” – Bill Hicks
I used to spend 100 EUR a day drinking, plus another 20 EUR on dinner, easily.. I saw the Braves hat, so guessed lower…. If you had been wearing a Wash. Redskins or Detroit Red Wings or Mich. Wolverines hat,,, I would have guessed you could drink more. At least it’s not a Dallas Cowturd hat! LOL
MunichBeerBoy
Mike, I guess we’ll have to wait until next year, no problem, I will be there also, I will drink a few mas for you…………………Frank
I have no doubt that the first few days in Munich will cost us a lot. It’s probably going to be a lot closer to your higher estimate. I’ve got no problems putting away beers. Especially when my brother will be there with me.
Actually it’s not Atlanta, but my old Little League Baseball hat. There is a “C” and the “A” for Chino American. It was my lucky hat, and I was wearing it to the Little League Regional finals over in San Bernardino last year. (Photoshopped of course… I don’t really have blue eyes…. just thought it looked cool)
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London

First eurotrip this year.
I can’t seem to find a hostel nearby? Where does everyone stay?
Also…you have to reserve tables? And how much is it?
Paris, Barcelona, Nice, Rome, Venice, Interlaken, Munich, Amsterdam, London
Yeah… if you haven’t booked a place yet then you are probably out of luck. You could still try a few places to see if someone may have canceled. Most of the hostels and cheaper places sell out pretty quickly for Oktoberfest.
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London

COMMISH: I was just a razzin ya anyway. I can now clearly see it (CA) with the larger photo. You’re gonna have a blast – looking at that Eurotrip itin !
MunichBeerBoy
For you lucky blokes and gals that are actually going this year… I think we only have 8 weeks to go! We will start planning for 2010 in January.. I will miss this year’s fest greatly my friends.
MunichBeerBoy

OKTOBERFEST COUNTDOWN…..43 DAYS 8 HOURS 12 MINUTES……..BEER ME….
Better get a swine flu vaccination before attending this year’s fest. The Wies’n is a hotbed for airborne viruses.
Noch 38 Tage, 23 Stunden 56 Minuten bis zum 176. Münchner Oktoberfest!
Uhhh… I’ve got a full 49 days until I get there the last week of Oktoberfest

“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list”
Just kiddin’…zigga zagga zigga zagga oy oy oy
“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list”
Well I am back and going for my 5th Oktoberfest! This time bringing a rookie with me! I can’t wait…got accommodations got my ticket, arriving the day of the 28th Sep and leaving 3 days later! I was in Munich last summer twice for work and it was just enough to make me want to come again…although I already have plans to go again next year for the 200th! Sunskin not going this year eh? Too bad it would have been nice to meet up again for some more wine! Next year for sure!
I am going to Afghanistan when I get back so this will be my last chance to really let loose this year!
I’ll be leaving LAX on the 28th, and I’ll be there for three days starting on the 29th. This is going to by my first trip to Oktoberfest, so it should be quite the experience.
I think I’m on 46 days and counting.

Comish, LuvBeers, Guy and others… Believe it or not, I already have my room booked for 2010.. I haver NEVER booked earlier than 11 months in advance, but next year will be the very special 200 Year Anniversary celebration, so things will be extra crowded. They may even hit 7 million visitors, which is 700,000 more than avg. I also booked early – cause I’lll be staying at the Hotel Uhland (20.9.10 thru 25.9.10),, and it’s literally 50 feet from the fest grounds! Not bad, only 150 EUR per night with breakfast & taxes + a gift, etc.
MunichBeerBoy
Chris; if you want to stay with me for 2 or 3 nights then, it’s only gonna cost you 45 per night extra. And,,, you can park there for free, should you and/or your boss want to drive up next yr.
MunichBeerBoy
WOW… NICE!!!! Hopefully I’ll have such a great time this year that I’ll be back for number 200. I was really trying to go somewhere new next year, but Oktoberfest 200 might just pull me back for that special occasion.

Hi mate,
I am going to Oktoberfest for the first time this year, get there on the sat 3rd oct and i know it finishes on the 4th so we will only have 2 days. Any advice on how to get beer tokens, seats in tents, what tents to go to etc would be great?
Paul
I will be driving there straight from Holland, and enjoy the beers from thursday september 24th, and leaving sunday 27th.

All of the beer tent reservations are gone, but you only really need those for larger groups. If there are only one or two of you then you can find seating if you show up early.

Although I returned home this year from the Wiesn with the Mexican Fever, next year I will definitely be there again!
Here’s a short review of this years visit to the Oktoberfest. It was a great party! On wednesday evening we drove leaving from Holland at five PM from Eindhoven, and arriving around 12 at night at my friends house in Munchen.
Thursday we first went to Marienplatz, my friend never was in Munich before so we looked around for a bit, and had our first beers at the Viktualienmarkt. First half a liter of biological weisbier together with a weisswurst, followed by a mass of helles.
Then we went to the Wiesn and joined some austrian friends at the Schottenhamel tent. After that we checked out the Hippodrome and partied with a few Americans. Suddenly the alcohol hit us and we felt the urge to take a nap outside on the hill. Luckily we weren’t robbed when we woke up, and deciced to leave the Oktoberfest grounds and took the u-bahn to Ostbahnhof and we walked to the Kunstpark Ost/ Kultfabrik. There we had more drinks at Nachtkantine before we spent the remaining of the evening in the New York Lap Dance bar.
On friday we basically spent the whole day in the Hofbrauhaus tent, which was great, in the afternoon we had company of some gorgeous women in dirndl. And during the evening we were laughing and dancing a lot with a bunch of funny Italians who were calling all passing ladies to our table: “fraulein, fraulein, bitte!”
Normally saturdays I never visit the Wiesn so this time we also decided to go to the Hofbrauhaus in the centre (Hofbrauhaus am Platzl). We spent some great hours there, then went to the Wiesn’anyways where it over course was overcrowded and all the tents were closed. But we were lucky, a fellow dutchman approached us at the HB tent if we were interested in purchasing two wrist bands for entrance, so we spent 25 euros for two of these, and entered smoothly thru the back entrance. The atmosfere was super, and we danced the whole evening singing along with all the popular songs. So a great finish after three nights of drinking!
Sunday we slept late and drove back to Holland.
Oktoberfest will be a great experience for the all people who love to drink. i don’t no whether i will get a beer tent reservations now. Though i will be there in group, so it seems to be no problem. Please be ready to enjoy this Oktoberfest.
