Hey anyone out there have any ideas...
Sat, 01/22/2005 - 00:49
I am sure this has been asked before and will be asked again…
Me and a buddy are thinking of running with the bulls this year and then spending the next 3 weeks recovering somewhere in Europe..(Amsterdam being a destination)
Now we are from Florida and have never been to Europe any suggestions or even other posts you can direct us to read??

Do you need a certain # of posts for a response from everyone here?
No, but you do need to ask a less general question.
seraphim- my apologies…. I am planning a trip for a month to Europe starting with Madrid/Pamplona and ending with Amsterdam with about 3 weeks in between that need to be filled…Really don’t want to set any definate plans but would love to hear of some ideas on possible places to go even festivals that might be going on in Europe around that time(July)…Thx
This is one of the scenarios I was thinking about…
Spain for 7 days, France for 3, Italy for 6, Austria for 2, Germany for 3, Amsterdam for 4, and then England for 4…
Also if we have time maybe Ireland..
Any thoughts???
What kind of places do you want to experience..City? Nature? etc. Then we can help you out.
City and nightlife would be great…..Thx
forget about England and Ireland, no time to add that to your plans, even Austria and Italy would be pushing it. I would just concentrate on maybe stopping off in Munich, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, they are the major stops but I wouldn’t make definite plans, once you are at the Running of the Bulls, I am sure your plans will change, people there will tell you where the party stops are, Ibiza is one.
Go to Barcelona after Madrid/Pampolona. Barcelona has a bad ass night life. From there head over Nice. Beach life, beautiful people, cool clubs, easy action..from there head to Paris(no explanation needed its so awesome culture/history/beauty/etc). From there take a night train to Berlin..that place is perhaps the most interesting city on the planet. Then finish off in Amsterdam. Berlin is out of the way, but I think its worth it. With the night train you’ll hardly notice a thing..if you reserve a couchet.
This is what we were thinking Madrid, Pamplona,Barcelona,Ibiza,Rome,Florence,Venice,Munich,Berlin, Amsterdam,Paris, and then possibly London….Whew!!!
Obviously this is all tenative…
What do you all think????(this is over a months time)
I think thats too much. Cities like Paris, Rome, Berlin, London need a solid 4 days a piece at the minimum IMO. Munich(non-Oktoberfest season), Florence, Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, dont need quite as much..but probably 3 days minimum…and if you’re all about the extracarriculars in Amsterdam even longer. Ibiza, Venice, and Pampalona are the only places I think you can breeze through. And even then, we’re talkin 2 days.
Plus traveling will eat up a few days..and screw up a couple i.e. the travel was so uncomfortable you’ll need to chill and do nothing for a day.
I’d suggest cutting down that list. Conceive a tentative itenerary and just feel it out as your trip goes on..you dont need to decide now. Just dont go into it thinking you need to cram all those places in, because it wouldn’t be as enjoyable compared to just taking your time in fewer spots. 12 cities including some huge ones in only a month is nuts.
user_name- thanks so much for your ideas…
I am just looking for the best way to go about this trip…
I will take what you have said in consideration…
Hope to get some more great ideas…
Also was wondering with what are the going rates for Hostels and hotels around Europe…
I am sure prices can vary I just want to get an estimate on what I may need per week…Thx
if you want to know what festivals or parties are going on in europe go here
www.whatsonwhen.com
That is a great site thanks!!!!
I ran with the bulls last year.. 6 countries in 4 days, so I guarrantee you can do it.
I put some tips on how to run and where to stand while waiting here: http://www.worldtrav… and my itinerary is one of the trips there too. Fiddle around in there – it’s what I use for any trip for ideas on places to go.
Basically, we landed in Paris, drove through Bordeaux, then to San Sebastian and over to Pamplona, across and up through Andorra, across Nice and through Monacco to Italy, and up into France again, touching into Swizerland, and back to Paris.
Cheers,
N…
Nimiety- thanks..
I am trying to find the "official" site of the running of the bulls. Looks like it takes places July 8-10, but I’m not sure…anyone know?
July 6-14 every year. The dates never, ever change

Saying this site is comprehensive is a gross understatement
