Recently in northern Spain and I had thought about hitch-hiking to San Sebastian de Garabandal. I tried to check out the ‘hitch’ scene on the road between Potes & the Santo Toribio Monastery. Many cars passed me by, none stopped. May be because of the narrow, winding mountain roads – I gave up on my aspirations to hitch-hike to Garabandal. If you plan to hitch-hike in northern Spain, wear comfortable shoes: you’re most likely going to walk a lot. That may change when the tourist influx starts.
