Hostel vs Private Rooms
Tue, 04/08/2008 - 23:52
i’m planning to travel in june around the balkans (croatia, bosnia, montenegro) and it seems there are not as many hostels over there as in western europe. Private rooms (guesthouse, pension and the likes),on the other hand seem much more frequent and quite cheap. As a solo traveler, I want to meet new people along the way and i’m a bit concerned it may not happen with private accomodation. Can you guys share your experience with this ? thanks !
Staying in a private room does takes away one opportunity to meet people but you can still meet people in other parts of the city.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
It’s a trade-off. Usually there are still HI hostels in most cities, but they are often located outside of the city center. Plus, you have to deal with the HI drawbacks. The upside of the private rooms is that you won’t want to spend time there, so you’ll get out and see more.
