How does tobacco products in Europe compare to Canada?
Mon, 11/24/2008 - 15:53
So Im a pretty big smoker (yea yea I know) and startin to plan a trip to Europe this summer and wondering how cigs are over there. Theres a huge difference in price and taste between Canada and the US, where our smokes tend to be somewhat harsher and $10-$12 a pack and ‘yankee’ smokes taste more like cigars and are way cheaper $3-$5 a pack.
Im sure there’s a differences between every countries tobacco products, but generally, what is the price and taste of European tobacco products? And are there any countries left where you can smoke in public places (bars, restaurants), like France?
…in particular, those of the UK, Netherlands, Germany and France.

The price in the UK in particular is far dearer with about 80% of a pack’s value down to tax. You can expect to pay up to £6 for a pack of 20. Due to fluctuating currency price’s its hard to give an exact price in USD’s but easily $10+. Price’s on the european mainland tend to be alot cheaper but does differ between countries.
