http://www.ferrovied… Use this link to the Italian national rail company website for prices. It looks like regular fare is 31 euros. There are specials as low as 15 euros. I doubt you’ll be able to buy the ticket on-line from that site unless you have a European issued credit card. If you need to buy the ticket on-line, you can try www.italiarail.com — the banner on the side of this page. It will cost more than buying the same ticket at the station in Italy, but it’s cheaper than the other travel agency websites and you could take advantage of the advance-purchase special fares which will most likely be sold out if you wait until you arrive in Italy.

As for stations, I’ll describe both. Venice Maestre is in the town of Maestre which is “on the mainland.” You ‘d use that if your hotel/hostel as in Maestre or perhaps if you were arriving by plane as it’s closer to the airport. Venice Santa Lucia station is across the causeway and “in Venice.” You can walk from there to most of the tourist sights, although you’ll probably want to take the vaporetto (water bus) as it’s a long walk. You’ll probably want to use Milano Centrale as the train station in Milan. It’s the main station, the others are all commuter stations and you’ll probably have to transfer at Centrale to get to them.

Don’t go for rail pass as it won’t solve your purpose. Search a combination of regular trains and buses to get the best and the cheapest possible mode of transportation.

The ticket price full Milan-Venice costs 31 Euro. If you chose the tarif “mini” the price is discunted. The link is: www.trenitalia.com/c… .
Now the lower price for the 25 March is 18 Euro at 06:35 am, 22 Euro a 6:55, 25 Euro at 08:05 and 08:55 am. Pay attention because many trains on friday in the afternoon are full booked.
