How many days a week did you get drunk?
Sat, 12/18/2004 - 02:23
I’m not even a drinker normally but man..I got drunk so often..the only thing that ever kept me from doing it on a given night was a hangover. Its just so fun hanging out with new people in a new city discussing a variety of things over some nice wine/beer/etc.

You mean, when traveling abroad??? Hmmmm, let me see… There are 7 days in a week, carry the 1 + 24 hrs, / 60 mins, = 6 and 3/4… Yes, that would be 6.75 out of 7.0 days…

for me its impossible not to drink every night while in europe. there is nothing like walking around at 2am in paris with a beer in your hand.
I did have the odd night of drunkiness while travelling, but I tend to get bad hangovers and lose days, but I do remember having fun, best night for me was meeting some German guy in a beer hall in Munich, he couldn’t speak english (which was unusual) but we laughed and drank all night, and also getting drunk on cheap wine and getting lost in the streets of Venice
If you stay in a place long enough to find a nice hostel or bar to pregame at, then its pretty hard not to drink everynight. There’s nothing better then having a few people you met last night sit down to share a drink with you when you can’t remember every seeing them before …. you get to meet them all over again.
Theres nothing like getting hammered w/ a bunch of people then wandering the streets w/ them at 3am looking for a doner kebab stand…and finding it.
Got drunk twice over a one month trip… that said smoked a little in Amsterdam too. I travel to see the world – not to get wasted however it is lots of fun when it does happen
You can do both my dear. Experienceing the fine bouquets and tastes of some of that wine/beer is very much a vital part of experiencing certain cultures. Good food, good liquor, good company, wonderful people..I love it.
Hmmm…
Studying in Belgium (one of Europe’s beer capitals) with a group of 25 college students from Wisconsin (beer capital of America). Let’s just say that my group did our fair share of sampling the 100’s of kinds of Belgian beer. Boy does that Duvel do a number on you…
Well it depends on how long the trip is.
Two weeks in Portugal/Spain and was drinking every night except 2.
Two weeks in Scotland and drank every night.
1 month in India and 1 month in Australia…not drunk in india, drunk in Australia 70% of the time.
It gets expensive and, if done excessively, can definitely detract from the experience. There’s a lot to be said for feeling healthy and having sober conversations with locals during the day. Similarly, there’s a lot to be said for getting drunk with strangers and wandering the streets. Good vacations probably have a bit of both.
ahh…
I remember getting to Paris that first day of my first trip and thinking that I was going to not party and really take in the culture and places. Got pretty messed up that night. There’s no reason not to do both. When you party with locals and other travelers you broaden your experience so much more, you hear their stories and make new best friends that you’ll never see again.
