how much $$$ for a month long trip?
Tue, 01/09/2007 - 05:55
i will be going to europe for a month long trip and was wondering how much will 1 month long worth of backpacking cost (roughly)? my rough idea now is France>Neatherlands>Italy>Spain>end up in Ibiza before flying home. Atm i estimate around 2k but then again being a newb i have no real idea how much it would cost. Oh and i am not really an hardcore backpacker [

You’ve chosen rather expensive destinations, although mainland Spain is not so bad. But Ibiza really is, if you want to go to the clubs. They are ridiculously priced, per a report from an acquaintance.
If you don’t see yourself as a hard-core backpacker, and particularly if you don’t want to use hostels, and you want to party, I’d consider 100 Euros per day about right (even more if you are really into the clubs). The 2K USD is just not enough – if you were a hardcore backpacker, then yes it might be, if you aren’t including transit costs in it.
i agree. i don’t think 2 K will be enough. If you don’t include airfare and intercity transportation, i’ve always budgeted 80 euro a day
