Hey everyone i had a question regarding my trip i’ll taking in august for 2 weeks. So far this is my list

Paris to Amsterdam
Amsterdam to Switzerland
Switzerland To Italy
Italy back to paris

Would a Euro rail pass work in all these countries?  And what do you think about my list

Yeah, a railpass would work.  You could get something like a selectpass that will cover 3-5 joining countries for 5 or more days of travel.  I hope your just staying in northern italy, because if not, your being a little too ambitious for 2 weeks.

I think you’re way too ambitious for two weeks — even if you’re not counting the 3 days involved in getting back and forth between North America and Europe.  Rome and Paris each need 3 days or 4 days.  I’d skip Switzerland for this trip and concentrate on France and Italy, adding Amsterdam if you want to push it.

I would look for cheap flights or overnight trains between Amsterdam and Switzerland and between Rome and Paris.

Hey dudeorama5 (was dudeorama, dudeorama1, etc, taken?) –

Do away with Switzerland for this trip.  Nice country, nice cities… but come back on a later trip.

Since you will be gone for only 2 weeks (heck… ‘only’ is not right… it is 2 weeks longer than me), you could consider doing just the big cities – Amsterdam, Paris, Rome.  That way you could fly between cities and save time (and possibly money… not as much flexibility as a train, though).  From each city you could do a daytrip or two.  Just a thought.  Although I love Florence, enjoyed Venice and did not take well to Rome, I would consider sticking to the big cities and daytripping from there.

Happy Trails,
Rick

You can get to Amsterdam from Spain on the train, but it will be an excrutiatingly long ride and could easily cost more than flying.

Planes can be booked on-line up until flight day and from anywhere.  However, the cheap seats sell out first, so you probably want to try to book well in advance to get the best prices.  Train tickets and reservations should be purchased after you get to Europe unless you’re doing enough train travel that a railpass will save you money.  A railpass should be purchased from your home country in advance.  For an overnight train I’d try to book a few days in advance.

Booking a last minute plane ticket is dangerous since you are probably going to find yourself spending alot of money. Trains can be done but any overnight trains need to be booked a few days in advance as old lady just pointed out and I just noticed that!
cheers
