I've been a super-light traveler, should I change?

The last time I backpacked europe I went extremely light-weight, my pack weighed 7.5 pounds fully loaded and I made it through 5 weeks of travel. I will admit I was a little uncomfortable with quite a few things. #1- My pack wasn’t designed to be a ‘backpackers’ pack, so even the small weight I had sucked. #2- I don’t think I had a managable amount of clothes, could’ve used more. A few other things sucked, but my main question is if you all think I should up my bag size and bring a lot more with me. I traveled in the winter so I had jacket, pants, long-sleeve shirts, etc, but now I’m going in the summer. How much more will I be able to bring just because I’m only going to have shorts and t-shirts? I used a 1,900 cubic inch pack for those last 5 weeks, what would you recommend for a 2 month trip in Southern Europe? Thanks guys.
