If you are going to Sweden
Sat, 01/26/2013 - 04:21
I just want to let you know that 2013 is a good year to travel to Stockholm, Sweden if you want to avoid a major building project near the old town (a beautiful part that many tourists and Swedes themselves visit).
In 2014 and 7-8 years ahead they are re-constructing this part so transportation won´t be the same.
It may sound a bit patriotic (I´m Swedish) but if you are thinking of going to Sweden, please do!
It is really beautiful and I would recomend you travel in mid May-August when it´s summer here.

Oh cool! I have never been there but I have read lot about it. Can you elaborate little bit which are best places for sightseeing?
Here are some sights where you can read about Sweden;
www.visitsweden.com (in English)
www.svenskaturistfor… (The Swedish tourist association) At the top right you can choose to read it in English)
www.visitstockholm.s…
www.cityguide.se (choose English at the top)
www.walkinstockholm…. (Swedes living in Stocholm talking about favourite places) Choose English at the top)
www.stockholm-turist… (only in Swedish? but you can still get an idea of what to see in Stockholm)
www.turistmal.se (in Swedish but click around and you will find places to stay, guidetours etc.)
And last but not least the national weather sight so you know what clothes to bring.

Personally I would go in mid May, still springtime but “on the edge” of turning into summer but it is summer in June, July and August.
If you are in to skiing you would want to visit Sweden in wintertime preferably the north.

Hello
I’m hoping to visit Stockholm this July. I’ll be travelling from Milan – Copenhagen – Stockholm – Helsinki.
Do you recommend a stop at Malmo? I checked the bus one way ticket from Copenhagen to Malmo and it’s about 65 euros (I think it’s WAY too much). Do you know of any other cheap traveling way?
Thank you.
Hello shevimon
I am sorry to say that I have only been to Malmö for a very brief visit so I don´t know the town that much.
Have you checked how much it costs to go by train? If you book the ticket 3 months in advance it is cheaper.
Are you traveling alone? How many days are you staying in Stockholm?
I’m looking for the train cost. It seems cheaper than the plane. So maybe I would take the train from Copenhagen to Malmo, stay one night there and then take the train to Stockholm.
I guess 2 nights in Stockholm. Haven’t actually figured how much time I should spend in each city yet
Yes, I will be travelling alone.. I’m forced to take extra leave from work but my friends have to work.
I am planning a visit to Sweden next summer and hope to be able to visit the rest of Scandinavia as well. They are amazing countries but a little bit expensive as I have heard.

If I am at home when you are visiting Sweden I can give you a tour around the capital Stockholm.
