If you could only visit one place...
Thu, 06/16/2005 - 09:22
Hi all,
Hypothetical question…just for fun –
If you could only visit one city/town/area for a few days in the next year (flying in and out of the same airport) where would you visit? Somewhere new or somewhere you loved enough to return?
For me, it would be either Paris or Krakow. I think I’d choose Krakow since I haven’t been there yet.
If I had to pick, then i’d have to go with Hong Kong or Tokyo. I know it’s not Europe, but i’ve been to Europe 2 times and i’ve seen most of the places that I wanted to. Being on the east coast of Canada, plane tickets to Asia are very expensive, so I usually avoid going there. So I guess i’d have to pick Tokyo. Although, one place in Europe that I haven’t seen much of and really want to see more of is Eastern Europe, especially Greece and Turkey.
I would like to go to Mongolia again. In Europe, I’d say Berlin for cities and the High Tatras for hiking. But I’d prefer not to fly there.
Places I haven’t been to yet – that’s very though. The list is long. Right now I’d say Ukraine or Lithuania for Europe, but that’s because I’m actually planning to go there hopefully this year. But again, I’d rather get there by train or bus than flying. For the rest of the world, Central Asia (especially Kyrgysztan and Uzbekistan), northern Vietnam and Tanzania (Kilimanjaro) are high on my list.
It would be a choice between Paris and Shannon, Ireland. Paris is great and I wouldn’t have to rent a car. I can do all the big city sites. Shannon I’d have to rent a car. But God, I love it there! So it would be a hard choice
Prague.
me too walter, me too!
Anywhere in Europe??? (Praha or Barcelona)
Anywhere on the planet??? (Bora Bora/Tahiti)
MunichBeerBoy
Good to see Prague in a few answers! I’m going in September (and to Krakow too).
Really? Shannon? To each their own, I guess. Just seems a bit of an odd choice to me.
For me in Europe it would be Munich/Bavaria.
A four-part answer:
Place in Europe I would most look forward to return to: Paris
Place in Europe I would most look forward to seeing for the first time: Barcelona
Place elsewhere in the world I would most look forward to return to: Hong Kong
Place elsewhere in the world I would most look forward to seeing for the first time: Egypt
It would depend on what type of trip I was taking and with who.
For Partying: Amsterdam
For Relaxing: Croatia or Cinque Terre
For Sight Seeing: Rome
Someplace new: Prague
Old place: Barcelona
New place: Cape Town, SA or Botswana
Amsterdam or Florence.
New York, New York
Tough one… I’d say Egypt, but you said one city, so I’ll say Moscow or St. Petersburg.
Prague or Cinque Terre
London – I miss it so much
and Macchu Picchu
Old place: Berlin baby
New place: Cyprus (this country has always stayed mysterious to me)
Stockholm, it’s the best city in contentinal Europe.
Western Samoa. I am a beach person.
It’s one of the most boring Pacific Islands you could ever visit. Fiji, Tahiti, Rarotonga, Bora Bora, all much better alternatives, nicer locals, better food and beaches.
Europe: I would love to go back to amsterdam or the french riviera but would choose somewhere I havent been – croatia, greek islands perhaps depending on the season…
Going to Fiji in October… but would probably love to see Bora Bora…
Morocco or Egypt… South America…
Send me anywhere I love it all
New Zealand, South Island
Wow it’s been a long time since i’ve been on here.
SOMEWHERE NEW: Marrakech, Morocco.
SOMEWHERE TO RETURN TO: Paris, hands down.
You should make an effort to visit the North Island, people miss it when it’s just as impressive as the South.
Old place: Paris
New place: South Africa…i’m not certian of a specific city
I would choose anywhere in the South Pacific, thats really my dream vacation. Just ridiculously expensive to get to.
In europe id pick ibiza with a few friends since ive never been there and i need to visit that place at least once.
New: Barcelona
Old: Prague hands down.
Old: Barcelona
New: Buenos Aires
I never return to the same place twice, but I’d go back to Greece in a second.
Bangkok.
Again and again.
The Grotto at the Playboy mansion.
I’ve been to south africa a while ago, Go to Cape town, Port elizabeth and durban. Johannesburg isnt the best place to go ,especially now.
Allright clunker, I can play too.
Jun Ji hyuns underwear drawer!
(real answer – still Bangok)
My 1 new place this year is Bordeaux. How do you know if you haven’t tried it?
Place in Europe I would most like to visit: Romania – have no idea why. Just a feeling after some internet searches that it’d be both relaxing and rewarding.
Place elsewhere in the world I would most like to visit: Mongolia
A close second… Maldives
Berlin
Id say hiroshima.
Or New York!
Canuck, how much time do you think I’d need to see Cape Town? Should I plan a week or more?
New place; South East Asia; Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam…
Old Place; Interlaken
New Place Europe; Portugal, lagos… cinque tera, minkanos
Europe (place to return to): Paris in a heart beat. Love, love, LOVE that city. No matter how many times I go there, it just keeps on getting better.
Europe (new place): Ive done most of Western Europe and some of Eastern, what I would like to see are the Scandenavian countries…Sweden, Denmark, Norway…
New Place (rest of the world): Havent been to South America, I would love to go to Brasil, Argentina, Peru, Chile…
Old Place: South East Asia. Cambodia is awesome and I love Bangkok! The plane ticket there is pricey, but once youre there, it is CHEAP!
Prague, Amsterdam, or Santorini…
who knows, maybe once I make it to Australia and Asia my choice would change!
