If you could were would you go????
Fri, 11/16/2007 - 20:50
Okay you all, be honest about this. If you could travel around all europe for four months to see as many countries as you can and enjoy them, where would you go? Or where have you been too, that you think is amazing than most? What major cities would you go to and how long should you stay there to see all the major sights or at least the main ones. Or where would you go to for a mini day trip. What are best countries that have amazing historical sights with castles, monuments, river or lake crusies? If you have been to any of these countries, give me you opinion and advice. How long should you stay in some of these towns or city to get good feel of all the majoir sights in the city and some of the outer city sights?

don’t care about:
there shouldn’t be anything on this list unless you’ve been there
Why such emphasis on the “major” and “amazing” things?? After a month or two all of those 1,000 year old churchs and castles start to look alike.
To answer your question, I want to go to all of those countries, would even go back to the ones I’ve already been to. But I wouldnt bother making a list, I’d just go and see where the wind takes me. Though I would probably start and spend most of my time in the cheaper, less touristed eastern countries.
Oh, and why no Balkan countries? They are amazing. And since all the other eastern countries (minus Russia) are joining Schengen, it would be a good place to spend a month so you don’t overstay your visa.

Hey there!
Well out of your long list of places I have personally only been to Italy, France and Sweden, I think all are amazing but Italy is my favorite. If you are interested in traveling to Europe at all I would go on a Contiki, it’s the best way to travel in Europe. Check out their website at www.contiki.com or you can email me AshleyLorson@yahoo.com if you are interested in some more info and traveling suggestsion, I’m an intern for them and have some great hookups and info for ya!
Goodluck!

Okay, now those of you who answered this question, tell us why you want to visit the countries that you listed (and why you’re not interested in the countries that you said you don’t care for).
Go.
P.S….Adeelie,
If you liked Spain and Croatia (and want to go back), you’ll also like Greece. If you’re interested in Russia and Poland, you may also be interested in Ukraine. If you’re interested in Bosnia and Romania, you may also like Serbia. That’s why I’m perplexed by the list of countries you’re not interested in.

Haven’t given much thought to/don’t know enough about these countries to stir my interest:
])
Lithuania
Latvia
Estonia
Slovenia
Would like to visit:
Russia (loads of history)
Finland (just ‘coz)
Slovakia (my interest was peaked when I was in Poland)
Austria (heard good things)
Egypt (Classics major in my first degree, love to see what I studied)
Switerland (to yodel)
Have visited but would like to go back to – for most of these countries I’ve only visited 2-4 cities/towns. I enjoyed all these places.
Sweden (I LOVED Stockholm)
Norway (it has a superb natural beauty that took my breath away)
Belgium (beer, chocolate, history – what more could you ask for??)
Poland (I thought Warsaw was amazing, loved Zakopane and Krakow)
Czech Republic (time spent there was too short and in the winter)
Italy (can never go back too many times, I would live there if I could)
France (see OMG a month in Paris [
Hungary (time spent there was too short and in the winter)
Germany (such a big country with lots to see and I studied German for 3 years, it’s always nice to use what you have learned)
Spain (really enjoyed my 3 weeks there and would like to do the [=”-1”]Pilgrim’s Way [/] one day)
Have visited and enjoyed:
Denmark
Holland
Luxembourg
Portugal
Greece
I would do(and recommend) Spain for a month, and Eastern Europe for at least a month. Eastern Europe as in, from Talin to Riga to Poland to Czech Rep to Hungary to Slovenia down to Croatia, etc…. I’ve done the former(and then some..), and would do it again, and though not the latter, I lived in Prague for a bit, and would love to see all the rest..
For the rest I’d spend a month seeing the core “must-sees” – Paris, Rome, Berlin, etc..
Then I’d get in the Greek islands and yeah, just burn up the rest sitting on a beach doing nothing, there or in Spain/Portugal..
Ireland is one of my faves too..
Top of my next to-see list would be(not in order):
1.) Croatia
2.) Galicia in Spain
3,) Vienna, Slovenia, more of Hungary, Südtirol in summer
Places I don’t care about(at this point anyway):
1.) England (no offense..)
2.) Scandinavia.. Too expensive, and too NORTH.. I get enough depressing darkness in Germany.. I want sun.
3.) Russia. In theory I’d LOVE to see a lot of things there. But the stupid expensive prices for non-Russians, the corruption, the cold, etc.. Na…, no thanks.
