Independence Air ??
Wed, 01/19/2005 - 16:10
Has anyone used them before? They only fly within the United States I think. I heard the prices are pretty good…anyone have any first hand experience with them?? They are otherwise known as FLYi or IAir?? Thanks!
my wife and i were bumped off a united flight and we caught an Independance Air flight out of Dullas to upstate NY. It was fine — I think it is a new name for an older airline that went out of business — something like that. Anyway, the price was right and all went well!
Great to know! Thanks…yeah, I think you are right about it being a different company a while back…did you think that the service was better?
I have had two friends use Independence. Each of them liked the airline and recommend it. They said it was just like most other airline except cheaper.
Frankfurt, Prague, Wrocław, Paris, Lisbon, Donostia, Barcelona
London, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Marrakech, London
London, Gothenburg, Oslo, Frankfurt, Paris, Rome, Venice, Barcelona
Amsterdam, Bruges, Interlaken, Nice, Cannes, Paris, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London
Great! Good to know. Thanks for the feedback…I looked on their website and found that they’re having a sale until midnight on Friday…$44 on all one-way non-stop flights. AND, if I sign up for their iClub membership, I get $25 off my first flight! So technically I could fly to Chicago, or Flordia for $63…that is cheap!!
I had a couple of flight segments with them recently. They are based at Dulles airport, and used to operate as a feeder service airline for United. When United filed bankruptcy, they decided to try it on their own with a low-fare price structure.
The planes are regional jets, 2×2 leather seating, with about 50 passenger capacity. Both flights I was on weren’t even 1/3 full.
Online booking was easy. I used online check-in for 1 segment, and kiosk at the airport for the other. No problems. Limited on-board service (bottle of water).
I believe they have started longer flights, like to Vegas, with bigger jets.
Thanks Don, great review! Yes, I think you are right…according to their website they will be flying to Vegas starting March 1…that will definitely be useful to my friends!
I’m thinking I might book a flight to Nashville on IAir soon…I’ve been talking about going there since a good friend of mine wants to show me around!
