For all the people that are wondering if they can find a place (last min.) to stay in munich during octoberfest and if it’s possible to camp the answer to both questions is yes. There is a campground in munich and you don’t need reservations (there is always room), you can either bring a tent with you or rent one (already set up), they have shuttle buses that run to and from the fairgrounds all day, showers, a snack bar and store, a really cool park right next to the campground, after octoberfest is over each night the campground turns into a big party….you can get beer all night, they have beer vending machines. 1 thing I should mention is. this isn’t the best place to be if you’re planning on getting lots of sleep but if you are looking for a good time you can’t miss. Another good thing is it’s really cheep. The campground is called: Thalkirchen
Zentralländerstraße 49
You can get there on the U3 at the Thalkirchen(zoo) stop…from there you can either take a 3 min. bus ride or just walk 15 min. If you have any questions send me an email markflibotte@yahoo.com. I fly to munich on the 21st!!! I can’t wait….
