Inter Rail Help Needed! 2 week trip
Sun, 03/20/2011 - 07:35
Hi all,
I’m trying to plan a two week (ish) trip in Europe. I live in England and flying to my starting point is pretty flexible, my thoughts at the moment are to perhaps start somewhere like Seville, and work my way along the south of Spain, South France, then maybe up through Austria to Germany and home from there.
Alternatively I thought I could start somewhere like Poland, or Germany, and travel through Switzerland, Austria, maybe France.
I’m very flexible on where I go, I particularly want to visit Austria, Switzerland and Poland, but not necessarily all in the one trip if it makes for inconveniently long journeys.
I’m not doing this a traditional way, I will be staying in hotels (I have a picky partner to travel with!). I really want to keep journeys fairly simple and not too long, although I realise that there will be some fairly lengthy journies.
I would be really grateful for any tips anyone can give me, especially if people have been on similarly short Inter Rail trips.
Thanks in advance!
Laura

Two weeks is going to be fairly tight for Austria, Switzerland and Poland. One week per country is a reasonable rule of thumb, but you could do these three in two weeks. If those are the countries you really want to see, then save Spain and Southern France for a future trip.
Use the German national rail company website for train schedules anywhere in Europe. http://reiseauskunft… I think you’ll find that travel times are pretty long for the places you’ve mentioned: Spain, France, Poland and Germany because of the long distances involved, Switzerland and Austria because of the mountains.
