Hi all!
I plan on spending about 2 weeks in Ireland this August/September (tax return willing!) and would appreciate some help with my itinerary. I’m new at this whole backpacking thing and am a little unsure of travel times and other things.
Here’s a rundown of where I’d like to go:
I’ll be arriving in Dublin and would like to spend a couple nights there. I’d like to go to Cork, but am curious about any places in between the two cities that are worth seeing. I’d also like to spend a day or two somewhere in Kerry, and some time in the Dingle Penninsula. Doolin is on my list too, as are the Aran Islands, but I’m not sure where I should go from there. How long would it take to ferry from the islands to Galway? Is a stopover there worth the time? I would love to finish my trip with a stop in Belfast, before ferrying to Scotland from N. Ireland, but I’m not sure if time would allow that. I might have to fly out of Dublin. Are there any places you’d recomend between Galway and Dublin, or Galway and Belfast?
I have no clue what travel times will be like, so I could use all the help I can get! I’ll be taking buses to more remote areas, and probably trains on longer treks. Am I trying to cram too much in? Too little?
Thanks for any advice!
