ISIC or ISE
Fri, 06/02/2006 - 10:28
Hi, I was wondering which of the the student cards is better in terms of discounts, International student exchange identity card or the International student identity card? What are the differences? Thanks for the help, David

I’ve traveled as a student, and as an exchange student. When you are abroad and ask for discounts the type of status doesn’t matter. A student is a student is a student. The only exception is if there are certain countries that offer special deals to exchange students in their country. I never found this while I was abroad.
Actually, I found that my student card for my exchange did very little, not unlike the ISIC card. However, they are handy and you will find the odd discount.
My best advice: try to get your hands on both. The more the better.
Great travel advice can be found in the book European Pilgrimage. Go check it out at www.europeanpilgrima…
Cheers
Thanks very much InTravelMode for the info!
When I was a student I was usually travelling with an ISIC card.
Practically all the discounts you would get would be just "student" discounts, and it would not matter what kind of student ID you have. It seems though that ISIC is the most recognizable one.
I’m not sure how much "exchange" ID costs where you are. If it’s cheap, why not get both. If it’s expensive, I would go with an ISIC.
