I’m a duo Canadian and Italian citizen, I want to go to the U.K, work a bit then just kind of see where life takes me (immigration at the airport will LOVE me )
I know the following:
1) If I enter as an Italian I am legally allowed to be there and work there.
2) I have to apply for some insurance number and get taxed 5% or not taxed 5% or get taxed 20%
so the parts i’m confused about are what do I need to get and how do I get it? How much do I get taxed, is any of this applicable to me or is it all the employers job?
thanks for any info at all you can give me about england, working in england, taxy crap that no one likes or anything!

With a little research I found that you will get taxed 20% if you make under £37,400 and 40% if you make more than that. This is your income tax.

In addition to income tax, contributions to National Insurance are taken out of your paycheck.

I didn’t see anything about 5% or 20%…I think you may have gotten some information mixed up.

You do have to apply for a National Insurance number. The second link advises on how to do that.

I worked in UK previous year and I needed to apply for insurance number. After I got it I was taxed less (don’t remember precisely, but could be your mentioned 5%).
