where in italy would you say is a must
were thinking about rome or venice, but we only have enough time for one…
ifyou have suggestions on ANY place in italy it would help
thanks
my personal choice was florence. it was breathtakingly beautiful. yet so was rome and venice. it depends on how much time you have to spend in the city. i just found florence more calm then rome, and the markets there were amazing. so much art in all of the cities. it’s really hard to make only one choice. rome has great museums, the colliseum, st. peter’s basillica and the sistine chapel. florence has amazing museums, beautiful piazza’a and great leather. venice is a romatic place where you can wonder for hours. it’s really up to you. florence is my favorite.
have fun!
Venice dude you cant miss it!
We will all have an opninion, so it depends on your own personal view.
I’ve visited the cities of Rome, Florence and Venice and would put them in that order of how much I enjoyed them.
For me Rome had that ‘X’ factor that made it rise above the others.
But don’t worry, they are all great!

VENICE!!!!!!!
my vote goes to Venice…
Venice dude! No questions. IT’s unique.
Didn’t see a car for 2 days
)))))
HAve you thought of using a waterboat as a sole means of transportation?
Not unless you are KEvin Costner in Waterworld!
I would say….let’s think…Venice. (Venezia)
Is really great…take a one-day pass for the boats and go also to Murano and / Burano

Florence here.
I was disappointed by Venice. But like everyone says, it’s personal.
ROME: It’s a given. It’s overwhelmingly beautiful, great nightlife, food, fun, historical, beautiful…etc. Personally I loved Venice, but weather and tourism can be a problem, it’s a love/hate city. You really haven’t lived until you’ve been to the colleseum.
My first choice would be Rome, it’s so fabulous and there is just so much to see!! So in saying that i’m not really sure how much time you have exactly but maybe Venice could be a better option for you. It’s a beautiful city & totally unique. You’ll be able to see the sights, get lost, do all the touristy things, get lost and generally soak up the atmosphere and not feel too rushed.
My biggest issue with Venice is the huge numbers of people, but it doesn’t stop it being beautiful and i do come from New Zealand where we’re really not used to crowds on the same scale!
Does that help at all?!
Good luck & have fun!!
Also, you could go to Bergamo, I’ve been during the week-end. It seems to me to be a little bit off the bitten path , but it’s really nice and deserves a visit. They have great architecture, nice parcs…
All best,

Florence…. it has so much to offer
Florence!!!!
There are museums, the Duomo, beautiful squares everywhere… and some of the best Gelato I have ever had!!!
And the day trips you can take from there to Pisa and all over Tuscany were amazing… Plus the Italian food was better and cheaper there than Rome. And the Italian Men there were sexy not scary as in Rome…
Florence – try Trattoria ZaZas- YUM!!!! I had the best steak there that was one of my favorite meals in Italy.
ROME.
Rome v. Venice — Tough one.
I would say Venice since it’s like no other. Plus it’s sinking.
But Rome is a real knockout. The only city that rivals Paris.
Not Florence.
I took a 14 hour train ride to Rome from Paris and…(Never agaiN!)
I felt like I was being smuggled on an illegal immigrant bus.
Spent two days in Rome…and found it CHAOTIC, smuggy, and a bit dirty…(But maybe that is Rome’s allure…?) I did not find one single friendly Italian even though I tried hard to speak the language and interact.
But the Vatican is just a jaw dropping, beautiful place.
I took the Bus 110 tour and waiting 2 hours for a ride at the Termini station was not fun…Apparently it’s the most popular tourist bus. Dont wait at the Termini just walk to the other pickup/drop off points.
Colleseum -you have to pay and the exterior is more breathtaking than the interior. Lots of metal pipes ruined it.
Was not able to see The Panthenon, Forum, nor Sistine Chapel(it was always closed!!)
