just an idea
Sun, 05/18/2008 - 00:15
just an idea i had that i thought i would post here in case anyone has any advice or insight they could offer me, or if anyone would just like to point out what’s fundamentally wrong with it or why it will never work.
i was thinking, because i hate canada intensely and would do anything to escape it, that i could work as a live-in maid in other countries. of course i suppose it would be illegal, and i’m kind of opposed to that, but on the other hand it would just be an agreement between me and some other person and so what business is it of the governments? they wouldn’t even have to pay me much, or at all even, just give me room and board and money for transportation. i could stay in one of the schengen countries for three months doing that and then maybe go to the uk for another three months, so as to avoid being illegal, and then back again, maybe to the same people. ad infinitum. would this actually work? i think really it’s only a matter of finding the right people. so how would i find them? i was thinking i could advertise on craigslist, but i’m not sure the success rate of that. maybe just going to the country and asking around?
any thoughts? ahahah….
Hey,
To be honest, I was a little hurt to hear someone say they HATE Canada
.
Anyways, your idea is possible but since you are Canadian (or i’m assuming so) why don’t you just apply for a working holiday visa? you can get one for the UK for 2 years i believe. I actually just got my working visa for Ireland (leave in 10 days
). It’s easy to get and takes about 2 months. Give it a shot… you might see that Canada really isn’t that bad
.
take care
haha sorry, i know that canada is a great country, and a lot of people consider themselves lucky to live here. and i know there are a lot worse places to live and i probably sound ungrateful. but at the same time i’m resentful: if other peope can live and work in europe why shouldn’t i be able to? it isn’t fair!
well could you explain to me a bit about the working visa. the concept is kind of lost on me. how do you apply for one? can anyone get one? is there a site that has information about it? it’s only good for the uk, right? i kind of had my heart set on austria, though i will happily live in the uk if nothing else. i am rather fond of ireland.
thanks
i hope you have a great experience, by the way!
I’ve been able to find one site that helps. I think it’s actually ran by the canadian gov.
anyways… it’s Swap.ca
