Krakow - Budapest train or bus?
Sun, 02/19/2012 - 23:38
I need to be in Budapest by noon on 3/30. I would like to spend 3/29 in Krakow. Does anyone know if there is a night train from Krakow to Budapest or whether there is bus service between the 2 cities?
I checked both Orangeways and Eurolines and there aren’t any buses on the 29th. There is an overnight train leaving at 21:54, arriving at 8:35. Not 100% sure what it will cost once there, but I saw a few resources that said $100-130.
Train schedules here:

There is a direct overnight train leaving Krakow at 21:54 and arriving at 8:35. Be sure you get on a car that goes the entire route and be sure you stay in your correct car when the train stops at Bohumin and again at Breclav as they will be switching cars to different trains at those points. There are no connections, but three different train numbers. Train numbers are D 402, D 407, EN 477
Thanks for responding Oldlady & Augustin25. We will be buying tickets for that train when arrive in Europa.
Hi, I’m looking for a direct train from Krakow to Budapest on late september.
Can anybody help me to find the best one?
Most train schedules in Europe are posted 60 days in advance — occasionally 90 days. Late September schedules will probably not be officially available until late July. However, schedules seldom change, so the current schedule will probably still be in effect in September, unless this is a special train that runs only in summer.
Use the German national rail company website for schedules anywhere in Europe. http://reiseauskunft…? Best option now is the direct train at 22:09. Recheck schedules closer to the exact date on the Polish National rail company website (links are in a sticky at the top of this forum or under “transportation” on the “travel tips” tab) or at the station in Krakow as there may be a variation of a few minutes due to local conditions or a minor schedule change.
