Last minute travel
Wed, 11/23/2011 - 17:03
Don, mim,
do we have a listing of websites who specialise on Last minute tickets or disounted tickets over the weekend here in the US? Few years back, I used to get a email from one of the last minutes discounters and somewhere down the road, i seems to have unsubscribed it.
I am trying to buy a ticket now for travelling
from Newark 11/23/2011 either to
Detroit Michigan
or Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
and return on the 27th, just for the thanksgiving holidays.
Tickets are just too overpriced at 500+ and I will only travel if I can get something for 200.00+ USD.
I am leaving from US and traveling for 11 days

Doubt you’re going to find off season weekend city fare offers. It’s Thanksgiving, one of the busiest flight periods in the US. Demand is high, so little need to discount. Look for next-closest cities and be willing to bundle hotel or car and you might do better than you would otherwise this weekend.
Ditto on what Don said.

Sadly, you are right,,,,
The price was just out of reach..

Now that I am actively looking for a cheap price ticket to London, I called Iceland express. I was informed they have stopped all their Newark flights,
I guess there goes my Christmas trip to London.

Really? Erg. They were by far the cheapest last summer, although I wasn’t a fan of the airline.

Yes, I have to run to London for a personal issue and the first thing I did was call Iceland express. Earlier about 15 days ago, i was trying to book something with them and noticed Newark is not on their list.
I thought they might have a typo in their message. Their US toll free was not reachable as no one was picking up the phone.
Finally, I called Iceland to their main headquarters and they indicated they just didn’t have enough passengers from the US.
That took me by surprise as I always noticed their seats were sold out.
I don’t even think there is any other low cost no frill airlines to UK. I wonder if there is anything to Ireland or Scotland or France where I can take the train.

Sammo… look for Kuwait Airways. Flights.com, Kayak.com, 1800FlyEurope.com, Cfares.com et.al. should help you snag the best deal — with them, or another. However, I believe they fly from JFK, and I know you prefer Newark.
Thank you Don,
None of them have anything reasonable,
Been trying to reach out to travel agents and the same response.
I am told that going to London in Christmas time is also peak time. I cannot imagine how people enjoy going to London now with all this winds, rain and storm.
Let me keep trying….

I am kind of dropping the plans unless something drastically changes. I will stick to my plans of going there towards the end of January where I expect the tickets to be far more reasonable.
