hi, I want to fly out of lax to new york to stay a few days, then fly to europe. I have noticed that the cheapest place to fly to is shannon, ireland, so i will probably fly in there and out of munich germany. late june-late sept. i can’t seem to find anything under 900. any ideas?

I notice this is you first post, so welcome to Eurotrip!

Where have you checked (so we do not repeat efforts)? Is $900 for LAX-NYC, NYC-SNN, MUC-LAX?

Thanks for the welcome! I have tried a lot of sites. Mainly kayak.com, but i found that the flights they list on kayak don’t actually exist when i am transfered to orbitz or cheaptickets.  I have found a pretty cheap flight from new york to shannon on delta (around 570 if i were to fly roundtrip), and it looks like the return might be good on us airways from munich.  my approximate dates would be lax-nyc (june 17), nyc-snn (june 20), and munich-sfo (sept 27).  my dates and exact airports are pretty flexible. Also, I don’t have a definite itinerary, so would it be better to just book a one way flight to shannon and the return later?  Thanks for your help!

[blockquote]I just found what I think is the best deal so far on usairways. flight from islip, ny to snn (with a stop in philadelphia) on 21 june. munich to sfo on oct. 2. total price was $720.45. I’m thinking that I can get a cheap one way from lax to nyc on southwest or something.  Is this probably the best i can find?[/blockquote]

Be sure to check out the tips and links in our new user thread (top of this forum)—especially ITA’s multi-destination search. Try it out, and if you can’t figure it out, then post here and we’ll try to guide you.

You will technically need a roundtrip—or at least proof of onward travel—when arriving to Ireland and to Germany. So, you could simply do NYC-SNN or NYC-DUB roundtrip, then get a flight hop back to DUB for a nonstop back to LAX (since Aer Lingus serve LAX-DUB). Or, it might be cheaper to do exactly the itinerary you want—LAX-NYC, NYC-SNN, MUC-LAX. You just have to shop the fares and see what works best for you.

For some reason, your latest post didn’t show up before I replied.

Yes, that seems like a good fare. LAX-NYC should be easy with JetBlue, Delta, American, etc. one-way.
