bump
Is this going to go up or do you think it might drop below 1000 again? I am planning to go to Europe in late June (I have to wait until I graduate) and planning on staying for about a month. I’m flexible on dates and destinations. I just don’t want to pay more than a grand.
Less than $1000 from LAX to anywhere Europe in peak season is a tall order these days, what with fuel surcharges and taxes easily adding $250-$300 to the actual price of the ticket.
Since you will be finishing school, be sure to check www.statravel.com and www.studentuniverse…. and www.travelcuts.com — sometimes cheaper for students, and “youth” under 26.
I ran a quick blitz of fares using ITA. From all major SoCal airports (LAX;SNA;BUR;LGB;ONT;SAN) to all UK/Eire gateway airports (BFS;SNN;DUB;GLA;EDI;LON;BRS;BHX;MAN) … found $956 total to/from SNN (but with different departure and return airport in SoCal). To Germany, $1059 (FRA, Air India n/s); Benelux, Sp, Port, Fr… $1256 (CO, to EDI, back from LIS); Italy, Athens, Austria, Swi… $1027 (Swiss, ZRH); CZ, HU, PO, BG, RO… $1255 (Lufthansa, WAW); Scandinavia (SAS to STO, $1155). Taking the best priced of these, it found… $956 Shannon (still).
Using those Shannon dates with Bookingbuddy found best at $954 (Delta).
