LAX - London June/July $720
Thu, 02/17/2011 - 14:53
I have been checking www.skyscanner.com, religiously for about 1 month, and I have only seen the price for summer travel to Europe, dip lower than 1000 twice. The first time was last week, and it was about 750 with BMI airlines. I hesitated and returned the following evening to find the price gone. Today, I checked again, and the price was 720. I bought the tickets within five minutes, and 2 minutes later, many of the prices went back up (there is still some left though!). I’m currently awaiting for them to verify my credit card, so I’m not sure if I got the tickets, but this seriously is a steal if I got it! Makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the airline. Why so cheap?
Well here is my flight info
- Lax – LHR June 22
- LHR – LAX July 20
Total cost (including taxes and stuff) 721 USD
If I got this ticket, and this airline is legit, my only advice is to check skyscanner.com, religiously. And I mean every morning. If you see a cheap price do not hesitate! Because it will disappear quickly. Of course do your research and get a feel for what is cheap, what is not, and I guess the legitmacy of the airline. I did not do that so much this time, but I guess that’s a risk I was willing to take. Good luck everyone!

British Midland International. They’re (probably?) the UK’s 3rd largest airline—behind BA and Easyjet (and I’m guessing Virgin and BE are about 4th and 5th). BMI used to operate flights to Manchester from Chicago and Dulles(?) but that’s been several years ago. I think now they sell seats on their Star Alliance partners, as I’ve seen them pop up on routes to London operated by United, USAir — maybe also Continental IIRC. For the flight LAX-LHR if it’s nonstop, then most likely United or Air New Zealand operates it.
Oh okay, that is definitely reassuring. Thanks for the info. I can rest easy now =)

We’ve flown BMI a couple times, between London and Edinburgh and Nice and London (everything was fine).
