The lines can be long, but you have to be patient, don’t expect to get the top shows, even though on the ODD occasion they have had seats available, some theatres have lines outside for their show for returns on that night, but you would have to find out what time they sell the returns. Whatever you do, make sure you go to the official booth, and not the ones just by the tube station which sell half price tickets, cause they add a booking fee on top

My best deals for theatre tickets have been by going to the theatre directly, and asking for obstructed-view seats, at the cheapest price possible. The clerk will usually help you pick out the best seat possible. We got tickets for 5 pounds to one show where we were in the front row. We had difficulty seeing the actors’ feet from certain angles, but I’ve otherwise never had such a good up-close view.
