London to Venice
Tue, 03/03/2009 - 17:44
Hey everyone,
If I’m travelling from London to Venice, what are cool places to stop along the way (without too much of a detour) to see?
This is my first trip to Europe, and I want to absorb as much as possible.
Thanks,
Kait
I am leaving from Toronto with $3500

Give us more info about what exactly you have in mind. Are you just trying to break up the journey for a day or two, or considering spending a few days here and there while eventually making your way to Venice?
lol good point. Probably just breaking up the journey for a day – if there are worthwhile places. If not, I guess go straight to Venice. Just seemed like it would be a good plan to break up the trip and avoid sitting for an extended period of time.
any suggestions?

If you’re only going to stop for a day, I’d just look for a flight from London to Venice. The other “easy” possibility would be Eurostar to Paris for a whirlwind day or two there and then the overnight train to Venice.
How many days are you planning for London and for Venice?
Yeah, that’s what I was wondering. Like oldlady said, if you just want to stop for a day somewhere it’s probably a better idea to grab a cheap flight instead of traveling by train.
That’s true.
I didn’t even think about flying since I was stuck on the idea of the Eurail. This makes more sense. I’ll probably make Paris my last stop so that I can start from London, proceed to explore Venice, the Croatia islands, Rome, Barcelona… and loop back to Paris.
Thanks guys!
