London,Sweden,Germany in 3weeks?
Fri, 12/10/2004 - 09:38
I’ll be going to Europe in January 2005 and wanted to get feedback if my itinerary is doable? I fly into London and out of Frankfurt. Getting a return ticket (ryanair) to Stockholm from London for 2 days and going from London to Germany (not sure which city to arrive in) via Paris (overnight stay here) by train. In Germany I plan to go to Konstanz, Munich and Berlin. Will I have enough time for this? The bulk of my stay will be in Germany. Thanks!

Consider Ryanair one-way to Sweden, and then one-way from Sweden to Germany to save backtrack time. Ryanair fly from Skavsta to Hahn, Lubeck, and Niederrhein.
I was considering that. I would have to skip Paris though. Also, how much luggage can I take on ryanair? I was going to leave my bags at a friends place in London and just take an o/night bag.
15 kilograms per person is free
Does anyone have advice on how long to spend in these places?
Stockholm
Berlin
Munich
London (just for main sights)
I’ll have 3 weeks approx and if there’s time, I want to go to Prague (from Berlin). Is it worth going there in Winter? What are other places in Germany that I shouldn’t miss?
Will Ryanair’s Skavsta to Beauvais or Skavsta to Charleroi flight work for you?
i wouldn’t spend more than 3 days in London
If you are able and have low expectations you can see all of the big sights in London in less than a day – there are big double decker buses that just circle London
London, Paris, Tours, Caen, La Rochelle, Annecy, Genoa, Venice, Florence, Rome
I would give Berlin the most time (I have been to all those cities and found Berlin the most interesting). Stockholm has lots of museums but if your not into those a couple days is probebly enough there.
I was in Prague this summer and it is a very cool city but I had wished my visit was in the winter because the tourist swamped the place big time. Winter is low tourist season so I’d recommend going.Bring mittens and you’ll be fine : )it’s not like you’ll freeze from exposure crossing the square. plus there is great public trans and probebly lower prices.
Also I would deffinatly recommend more than one day in Paris.
Yeah, you can do it. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!
Basically it’s no problem to spent 3 weeks alone in Bavaria.
Konstanz – you can fly from/into nearby Friedrichshafen
http://www.intersky…. flies from there to Berlin-Tempelhof and Prague
http://www.ryanair.c… flies from there to London-Stansted
Friedrichshafen Airport
(Konstanz – ferry – Meersburg – bus – Friedrichshafen City train station – Friedrichshafen Airport train station)
Meersburg is a nice town (and has Germany’s oldest castle).
At the Friedrichshafen Harbour railway station there is the excellent http://www.zeppelin-… .
With the current USD/EUR exchange rate a German Rail Pass (priced in USD) is a good deal
Thanks for the tips. Also, if I fly from Stockholm to Berlin, how far is Hahn from the city centre? Is it cheap/easy to get from the airport to Berlin? and if I had a spare 2days should which would be better, Paris or Prague??
Hahn is a long way from Berlin (and not so close to Frankfurt, either). Lubeck (ie, Ryanair arrival from Skavsta) is likely shorter distance by train. New Hamburg-Berlin train service is supposed to reduce travel time to 1.5 hour.
Thanks Don. So with the other option to Paris, how far is Beauvais from Paris centre? I just don’t want to get there and realise I have to pay just as much for the flight to get from the airport to where I’m staying.
Go to www.ryanair.com
Click on "Destinations" —on the left side of that webpage
Click on desired cities
Information including links to local airports webpage and transport to/from that airport are included.
In many cases, Ryanair have arranged for busses to correspond with their flight arrivals and departures, and at a good price.
Thanks Don. I think I have my itinerary sorted then.
For those who have been to Berlin- What museums would you recommend if I only had one day for museums? Are they generally in the same area?
