Looking for travel partners to Oktoberfest!
Wed, 07/18/2007 - 12:52
Hi everyone,
I am a 28 year old female from North Carolina and I was hoping to find some people
going to Oktoberfest this year. I would love to find people from the southeast to
travel with but anywhere in the US is fine. Please respond if your interested! =)
You are certainly welcome to travel & drink with us. I have several postings on this Oktoberfest Forum, and will be posting my travel cell number, etc. on 9/21/07, just before the start of the fest. This will be my 11th Oktoberfest in Munchen. I live in North Florida, and will be flying-out of Philadelphia(PHL) to Munchen(MUC) on 9/22/07… My new web site: Havebeerwilltravel.com is currently under const.
New e-mail addr: Havebeerwt@hotmail.com
Cheers!

Philly sun? Seems far from Florida lol. We will be departing from NY(jfk) on 9/27……its getting close…i cant wait!
Hey I’m from 24 and from philly, planning on going from 9/26-9/30, I was there last year for the opening ceremonies and had a great time. I’m hoping midweek and the second weekend are a bit less crowded than opening weekend. Will any of you be checking your email because I don’t have an international cell phone? I’ll probably stay in a hostel, so I’m sure I’ll meet lots of people, but it’d be cool to hook up with some yanks. Prost!
G: Yes, I am flying a puddle-jumper from JAX, FL to PHL… then direct on 767 to MUC from there…

Evan: This will be my 11th fest, and I have made it a point to arrive on Sunday or Monday morning the past 8 years or more… It is much easier to get a table and move-around the city Mon thru Thurs.

I live in Alabama, 22 years old, and will be in Munich for 5 days around late September. My plans aren’t concrete or anything, just trying to get there sometime during Oktoberfest
Greenbow, AL ?
MunichBeerBoy
Nope, Huntsville. What caused a guess?
Of course,,, Forrest Gump is from Greenbow!
Great line from the movie: (Bear Bryant) “That Gump might just be the stupidest SOB alive, but he sure is fast!”

My flight leaves september 26th out of newark into munich on thursday the 27th.
I think i’m going to try and stay at the “TENT” camping ground since nothing seems to be available in regards to hostels or cheap hotels. I have 2 friends coming from Italy meeting me there, but they’ll only be there on saturday and sunday. I’ll be touring by myself on Thursday, friday, Monday, Tuesday if anyone wants to meet up.
I have to figure this whole thing out, about the reserving tables at the beer tent and what not. This is going to be my first Oktoberfest, and my first time in Germany, so i’m very excited!
same here for first time to germany however, according to the wise sunskin, you dont have to reserve table for small groups. Just be sure to show up early to get a spot.
hi guys…new to this so be gentle..i am italian guy living in aus and travelling back to italy mid sept…wanting to make my to oktoberfest so wanting advice on best time to go..then travelling solo through europe making my way to spain…all suggestions welcome..bonus i speak italian..ciao sam
2000: Best time to go would be during the week, perhaps 1300 to 1500 hrs.. There are usually many Italians & Aussies in the Hofbrau Zelt.

Sun, what do you usually do for a cell phone. I currently have verizon cell service and they said they will rent me a phone for the week at $3.99/day and airtime charges are around 1.29-1.49/min. Do you usually do somthing like this or is there a better option?
Gd: For several years; I rented from Travel Cell. Last year, I used the Int’l cell ph. rental via Amex Platinum Travel Sevices.. However, I might go back to Travel Cell, because they have a deal for repeat customers now for Free In-coming calls from anywhere.. I simply rent the phone for the week, at $29.95 – they ship it to me a couple of days before I depart, and include a return (paid) envelope, etc. Also, the out-going calls from Germany to the U.S. and U.K. are not to bad, perhaps .89 cents per min. I will just have people call me. I will post my number on: 9/21/07… It’s only an additional .99 cents per day for Insurance.. So, I get the phone for 7 days, if I receive almost exclusively in-coming calls, and make just a few myself,,, I am looking at only about $45.. Their phones are always in mint condition, and they ship me a nice carry bag, charger, and business-like cards with the number on em.

thanks ill check out travel cell.
Hey guys …. this will be my first year at Oktoberfest as well. My question is about accomodations. I’ve been looking online and it doesnt look like there are any hostels or other cheaper bed available. Does anyone have any suggestions? Someone above mentioned camping out … do you have to reserve a space for that? Are there any towns close by with easy accessability to the grounds?

if you drink alot, try to stay somewhere within stumbling distance (200 meters).
Purple did you find any travel buddies yet?
Dependson the date you are trying to stay. I may be able to get you a hostel room close by. If you are trying to stay between Sep 27 to the end of the festival.. forget it. lol.

Sun, I’ve been thinking about 4 times a day for the past 3 days now about getting on Theresienwiese after a solid 9 hours of travel, throwing my bags in my room (on the floor, no unpacking), looking at the herzkuchen sitting on my hotel bed, smiling, taking that glorious 12 minute walk, smelling the steckerlfisch, turn left into die Augusteiner Festzelt, sitting my a$$ down, and tasting that first amazing glass of Augustiner Festbier!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed, tis a beautiful thang!

22 YO and will be going to my first Oktoberfest. Coming from Paris (I’m from NY and me and a friend are backpacking). Will be there anywhere between the 4th and 7th. Still have not found any housing yet. Yes, stupid, I know.

I head to the airport in a few hours. Hope to be having my first beer at the Seehaus in Englischer Garten within the next 18 hours. I know it’s the Red Stripe slogan not a fine German Beer slogan but, Hooray Beer!!!!! Hope to have a few with everyone in the next week. I’m easy to spot in a crowd. I’ll be the 6’8” 350 pound guy with Redskins or University of Maryland shirts or you can see a picture of me on my website at lynx@lynx-travel.com along with 2003 and 2006 Oktoberfest pictures. Sunskin, I’ll check my email for your phone number. Also, I still need your street address to send the Oktoberfest posters. Go Skins.
NICO39, don’t give up looking for a place to stay…i started looking last week and after about 4 days i found a flat for $100 a night for 2 of us on the last weekend of the Wiesn. It’s about 10 mins away from the Wiesn so it’s in the vicinity! Now all we need are plane tickets!!!
Lol you didn’t get your plane tickets yet? Man i thought i was bad…but that was my first priority!
hey laur…. me an two friends are leaving the same day as you from newark….. what flight are you taking?
I leave 5:10pm on Lufthanasa (united airlines) out of newark… going to Frankfurt and then leaving for munich at 12:40pm
haha, me and my friend jeff are on the same flight…. this your 1st time?
Yay! this is great…. maybe we can get seats together… i like to sit towards the front to get away from children on the plane… although lately that doesn’t seem to matter because i’ve been put next to babies on both flights.
Anyway this is my first time going to Germany….but my 5th time to Europe (i had been to france, swizerland, and italy on previous trips)
No plane tickets for me! But I’m lucky when it comes to travel because I’m employed with an airline so I get to fly whenever and wherever I want……(as long as there are seats available)…but I’ve yet to be bumped. Lucky me []
Oh that’s great! my best friend works for Continental so she has the same kind of set up. I’m still trying to get her to come
Der Countdown: zwei uhr.
MunichBeerBoy
Way to go dude… I’m a Redskins Patriot myself. i live in Bowie..will be out there. When they coming up with a cool ET Tshirt that we can recognize eachother and maybe help a staggering folk stand up..
Maybe i should start a Eurotrip Logo and Tshirts.. hmmmm
Sorry I missed ya ! The Skins should have beat the Giants, but (0-2) teams play with desperation. They know if they start (0-3) it’s over… We should win 2 of the next 3, putting us in good shape.
G O S K I N S ! ! !
