Madrid Spain, Biarritz France, St Emillion France
Wed, 06/22/2011 - 10:59
Hello everyone,
I am planning my mini Euro road/rail trip and was looking for some help. I posted some questions in the transport section which can be found here,
As far as my trip, I will be traveling by rail or by rental car from Madrid, to Biarritz to somewhere in wine country near Bordeaux, to La Baule France. Do you have any recommendations for places to see/eat/drink/stay? Should I be stopping anywhere else along the way? Perhaps Pamplona to see the running of the bulls?
Thanks!!
I am leaving from Madrid and traveling for 4 days
San Sebastián de los Reyes, Biarritz

Anyone? The plan is to go from Madrid to San Sebastian (Day 1). San Sebastian to Pamplona (Day 2). Pamplona to Biarritz (Day 3) and Biarritz to La Baule (Day 4). Any suggestions?

From Madrid to San Sebastian? Isn’t that a bit of a drive?
Yes, its a 5 hour drive. Its a 7 hour drive from Biarritz to La Baule. Any recommendations?

With occasional exceptions, we usually don’t drive more than 2 and a half to 3 hours per day.
It’s just how we like to do it.
We will be traveling in (some of) the same region as you this December. We will be going in the opposite direction. We just now began figuring out where we want to go.
We will end up in Galicia, but the places we might hit that are in your route are:
Toulouse (Close to Carcassonne. We’ll be leaving from Toulouse)
Pau
San Sebastian
Bilbao
Santander
Santillana
Closer to Madrid, we are looking at Salamanca.
If you are interested in any of these places, we can talk more about them.
I am intrigued with the Basque culture.
