My buddy and I are headed to europe this summer and will definitely be hitting up clubs all over europe as well as Ibiza. We are from southern california and the dress codes here are usually pretty high end for clubbing.. Is this the case in europe? We dont want to over pack, yet at the same time we dont want to be dressed down and seem to much like tourists.. What do most ppl wear to the clubs out there??

Been a while since I’ve done much clubbing, but a big problem that many backpackers face (largely guys) is that they try to go into a club in flip flops, sandals, or sneakers and they can’t get in.
ibiza in the summer is mostly tourists (european and non european). dress code is pretty much anything you please. cargo shorts and t-shirts will probably dominate. farther north, especially farther from large centers of tourism the expected dress will get nicer. i’d recommend a pair of dark slacks and a dark short sleeve shirt. depending on how you’ll be travelling i’d stay away from black. if you wash it in a sink the detergent will leave really cool stains you won’t know about until you get under a blacklight. for shoes i prefer doc’s or their generic equivalent. they’re comfortable enough to wear daily and with a little effort clean up well.
also the less homeless you look the more fun you’ll have.

In party destinations there are NO dress codes. In major cities, N and S, there are classy clubs you can’t get into anyway, and there are many others, mainly with no dress code. Dress codes are not an issue, but feeling comfortable is another. In Ibiza, you would look out of place if you dressed nicely.
That’s a unique way of putting it.
I never recommend taking jeans for backpacking as they are heavy and take a long time to dry, but I guess if I were a guy with the dress code in clubs and all, I guess I would do the jeans thing. One pair of jeans (if they are in good condition), with a nice shirt will make wonders. I love jeans as they can be comfy, grungy, casual, whatever.
I don’t use sneakers, not even at home, I prefer boots, doc’s are cool, they are comfortable and with a little wipe they look way better than sneakers, and I think that would work for clubs as well.
It’s not that different from southern California. Casual clubs, lounges, and bars don’t have dress codes, except maybe "take off that hat" in some areas. For the choosier clubs, there are dress codes but very different from what you’d expect in LosAngeles/NewYork/Chicago. In the US, I’ve encoutered defined dress codes, such as collared shirt, no jeans, etc. You do not have to be stylish in the US, as long as you follow these rules. In Europe, from what I’ve experienced, the dress codes are not defined. They may not require certain items, but you have to look stylish. Someone with a tee-shirt from Urban Outfitters has a greater chance of getting in than someone with a collared shirt from a thrift store.
I agree entirely that these types of clubs (the ones that have the "dress codes"
are located in big cities, north or south. On island/coastal, summer-type places, like Ibiza or Mykonos, usually anything goes. But you still want to look cool.
