McDonalds in Montreux Switzerland
Mon, 03/21/2005 - 18:45
I don’t know if anyone has tried the Montreux version of Mcdonalds, but my suggestion to you is DON’T!!!!! I cannot stress the horror…Me and my sister were there last year for the Montreux jazz festival and we went to their mall. We were so happy to see a familiar Mcdonalds in the mall and were over excited to eat some familiar food. Everything looked the same, same names, same look, a few differences. I ordered the Big Mac Meal. I believe you could even super size it. Then I took a bite…………….it tasted like a broiled old, heated in the microwave Burger King burger…and the fries were terrible. It was so bad I could not even force myself to eat it. We were sick the whole day. It was a bad experience and I did not even look at Mcdonalds for months after I got back. Has anyone had a similar experience?![]()

ahhhh, Mcdonalds sucks. Thats what you get for eating american crap in Europe…….
It’s not to be offensive, what were you expecting?
McDonald’s is not something you should go to Europe for (or anywhere).
McDonald restaurant remains a McDonald restaurant in other countries, it’s cheap fast food, that’s it.
I doubt thats what the person meant, so really it is a useless statement.
Anyhow, the only place I would recommend going to McDonalds in is Japan, just to see unique things like fry spice you shake, wasabi sauce, teriyaki burgers AND the biggest f’n smoking sections in the planet.
They don’t have nihonshu (sake) yet.
If you need a break, try a European fast food chain for the hell of it – Quick was good.
I had McDonalds on my European trip on occasion..and it tasted almost the same to me. The buns were a little different..but other than that not too much. Although the sizes are all different too. When I came back home I got a medium coke, and I thought to myself, geez this is larger then the biggest choice available in Europe!
The only place I had McDonalds in Switzerland was at the Zurich station. It was bloody expensive too…
McDonald’s are good for their free, clean toilets and that’s about it!
Thats actually why I went there a bunch of times. Except a lot of places wanted me to buy something first..then on the receipt would be printed a combination to use to open up the bathroom door.
Really? In a McD’s? I haven’t heard of that before.
Yeah at McDonalds. If I wasn’t hungry I"d buy a bottle of water, throw it in my daypack..and then go to the bathroom with the receipt.
watch Super Size Me…….you will probably consider never eating mcdonalds again, I know i am and i love big macs.
well I’ve heard many of my australian friends say that when they had mcdonalds in america, they found it tasted completely different to the ones they were used to in Australia. Everything was sweeter and tasted different. I don’t know if they’ve cut the sugar from their burgers since the whole ‘supersize me’ thing though.
The fact is, each country changes the menus, burgers and sauces slightly for their culture. I don’t have mcdonalds often, but when I did busabout sometimes the only places they stopped to eat were at a mcdonalds restaurant, and I didn’t taste much of a difference. I think perhaps you may have had bad luck or something. Hopefully it’s not a regular thing in montreaux. I live in neuchatel at the moment but I haven’t been to montreaux yet. I heard it’s beautiful there. what did you reckon?

One of the beauty of traveling is to taste the country you are visiting, food, the people.. Please don’t ruin your trip eating McDonnals, Wendy…they are all yunk food.I can’t imagine anyone going to Europe to spend time a money in those places. It is enough with the greasy food they sale in this places.Try the local food, always will be better than McDonnal, Wendy…
Geez, I see people getting their panties into a knot because of this McDonalds thing. Don’t hate us. Yes, true, one of the beauties of travelling is trying new things, including food. But damn, I remember taking a train that made a stop at 5am, and the next train left at 7am. I was hungry as hell, and at that time, the only thing that was open was McDonalds. I wasn’t about to despise it just because it’s american crap, as someone put it. Yes, it is, but sometimes, it’s the only thing available.
Actually, I’m about to make a confession. I like McDonalds, just once in a while. I much prefer Burger King, but if one is not available and for hormonal reasons or whatever, I feel like I NEED a cheap junk burger, I do go to McDonalds once every 3 months.
After trying weird food in Europe, it was nice to have a familiar something once in a while, and I found it interesting to see the differences in the McDonalds in almost every country I went to (I had to see if the Royal with cheese was for real
)
Wow…., realy McDonald’s is best and cheap food restraint.
