Mexico!
Mon, 11/29/2004 - 18:01
My family is planning a trip to Mexico mid Feb. before I head off to London for a couple years and I’m trying to figure what our best bet is in therms of getting our moneys worth but truly enjoying ourselves as this is meant to be more of a relaxing vacation then a "see all, do all".
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or opinions about resorts or cities in Mexico, namely in the Yucatan area (Cozumel, Cancun, Playa del Carmen), and suggestions on whether to go all inclusive or not. We’re looking at going between 7-14 days and I’m open to the idea of splitting up the time between a couple places as well. Is all inclusive worth it, generally speaking? This isn’t a budget trip, but we don’t want to spend loads of money either, I’m more concerned with having quality time with my family before I leave them (sob….).
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

i stayed at an all inclusive resort in playa del carmen for a week called gala resorts. i really enjoyed my stay, all inclusive does have its limitations but i really enjoyed it. it felt more like a small private village more than a hotel. you see the same faces evryday and get to know people and make friends. playa del carmen is a good loaction too since it is just about an hour from cancun and walking distance from a bunch of markets.staying at an all inclusive resort was very relaxing, in fact in the one i stayed they didnt even have clocks in the rooms so as not to bother you with formalities wpeiod while yoour there. the beaches rae beatiful and the weather is always beautiful . the onlty things on my trip that werent alreaduy paid for were the salon services such as massaages on the beach and getting my hair braided lkike a tourist which i enjoyed. some water sports like jet skiing and parasailing, basically anything with a motor. but kayaking and catamaran sailing were all inclusive.at night they have shows and dnacing at their disco or you van play poool and watch soccer at their sports bar. iv been recommending everyone i know since i came back to go because i ahd such a great time. definately the epitomy of relaxation.
