Me and a friend are travelling to Europe this summer, from June 21 to August 23. We’re backpacking, probably using Eurail. Once we’ve payed for our flight and arrived, do you think that 8,000 Canadian dollars is enough between the two of us?

(We’re plannin on starting in Scotland to England to France to Spain to Italy (to greece hopefully and back to italy) then to some of the eastern European countries, and up to Norway/Sweeden/Finland.

$2000 US is good for a month in my opinion. So $4000 Canadien should be alright

So you think that 4000 CAD is good for two people per month?
Cuz that will include our rail pass, other transport, food, lodging, etc.
I’m just so worried I won’t have enough, and I’ll end up sleeping in some ditch in Austria! haha

ok, so 1 canadian dollar is 80% of 1 american dollar.
2000 Canadian= 1600 American. Including railpass, honestly I don’t think that will be enough. I like to give myself 1800 US not including railpass per month. I bet if you skimp like hell you could survive, but I doubt have fun. My philosphy is that this is most likely a once in a lifetime trip, so be comfortable and try not to worry about money, as difficult as that may be. Good luck with your planning.
P.S IF you stick more to Eastern Europe your money will last a lot longer, same thing with small cities compared to big ones.

Doable but tough – you can rfealize that you don’t have enough funds to go to Scandinavia and stay in Eastern Europe longer. Considering amount of time you have, this might be quite a reasonable idea anyway Smile
