Montreal to Paris
Fri, 09/17/2010 - 09:25
Hoping somebody can help me find the cheapest airfare to Paris. Im planning on leaving next July i know its a little bit early but the cheapest price i can find is right about 1000 dollars. I can also fly from New York but it would be a 7 hour drive from where i live. Anybody have any advice on the cheapest way to get there? thanks
I am traveling for 15 days

Look for XL Airways and Corsairfly. They are not always in regular booking sites. Also check Air Transat. It’s possible that the first 2 don’t have summer 2011 schedules and fares up yet (which is normal on seasonal routes).
Using ITA, I see Air Transat at $786 with departures in late July, staying about 1 month.
ya i looked on those pages and they do not have the flights available yet. any idea on when they should be? and would paris be cheaper to fly into than another city in Western Europe like Frankfurt or Berlin? Thanks for the advice much appreciated

Maybe — there seems to be more flights from Montreal to Paris than to other hubs in Europe, for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t always make Paris the cheapest flight option. I’d keep shopping around. If you wanted to add UK flights to your search then also check Canadian Affair, for example; if flights there are significantly cheaper, you could always take Eurostar to Paris, or a cheap flight hop from Manchester to Germany or France.
Seems like in previous years that fares for upcoming summer were online in winter, but wouldn’t hurt to bookmark XL and Corsair and just check back occasionally.
I just talked to a travel agent and she said she would be able to send me for 700 dollars. should i go for that or do you think i should hold out for something cheaper?

700 + tax + her fee + fuel surcharges = how much? For what dates? How long is this offer good for? I’d email her (or him) to get it in writing, and then make a decision. They rarely have access to anything that you couldn’t book on your own without their fee, and without their extra layer of hassles if something goes wrong.
Are you a full-time student or under 26?
Im a full time student 18 years old. My tarvel agent said thats what she was fairly certain she would be able to send me for around $700. Right now im seeing 688 NYC to Berlin leaving July 1. Im half tempted to book now…

… but I thought you needed Montreal to Paris??
Have you considered daily parking fees at JFK or Newark in your total trip cost? Fuel, and the possibility of driving 7+ hours back, dead-tired, when you return?
I’ve had travel agents “fairly certain” before. If they guess wrong, guess who ends up paying a lot more.
Since you’re a student, have you checked Travelcuts, STA, StudentUniverse, and GenerationFly? How about the other links and strategies in our new user thread (@ top of this forum)?
I’m looking to get to where ever is cheapest in central europe. sorry if i didnt specify. i live about 90 minutes from montreal so that is the closest major airport but if something in NYC is alot cheaper id go for that. i read threw those things but living 90 minutes from montreal my english is not the best. i will look again. Thanks for all the info so far.
