Musician moving to Europe
Tue, 09/21/2004 - 06:17
Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum, and I’ve read some wonderful stories and found great resources!
My name is Bryan, mostly known as Duke, and was born and raised in Mexico, now live in Cancun, where I’m one of the highest paid musicians in the city (that I know of).
I’m also one of those dreamers who plans to give it all up for one shot at moving to Europe.
I haven’t seen many stories of people trying their luck without a college education. I hope it’s not out of the question. Also, are there any musicians out there? Or anybody who can give advice about the musician life in Europe?
Also, any stories of getting caught working without a visa? Is that something I should be afraid of?
I hope someone can help me with these questions!
Greetings from cancun!

1. Most, if not all, EU countries have special visas for performers/artists. You usually have to apply from overseas and have a gig, or a documentation for a "
2. Musicians/artists are in many countries well organised in uions and in some cases are paid by the state.
3. If you come on a tourist visa that is exactly what you have to worry about.
Maybe it would be a good idea to get an agent with international experience and connections and market yourself overseas.
