My EuroTrip 2012 - advice and insight
Mon, 02/13/2012 - 17:01
Hey guys and gals,
I am planning a Eurotrip for this April May and June 2012. Its going to be 2 months long and start April 13 to June 15. Currently I have created a rough itinerary and was wondering if anyone could provide some insight or advice. To give you some background about myself, i am looking to visit some of the major landmarks, famous museums but primarily I would like to enjoy the nightlife and party at hostels with some amazing people. My itinerary is below so any advice would be great. My budget for the trip is $9000 for the 63 Days so roughly $145 a day.
London, England – 7 Days (cousins wedding plus sightseeing )
Dublin, Ireland – 3 Days – train
Paris, France – 4 Days – train
Brussels, Belgium – 3 Days – train
Amsterdam, Netherlands – 5 Days – train
Berlin, Germany – 4 Days – train
Prague, Czech Republic – 5 Days – train
Munich, Germany – 4 Days – train
Vienna, Austria – 3 Days – train
Budapest, Hungary – 3 Days – train
GAP (I expect that after Hungary I will see how many days I have left and fly to most likely Bucharest, Romania and then Greece. I expect that I will finish some of the above places quicker than expected)
Rome, Italy – 2 Days (Will be flying to Italy from where ever I am)
Venice, Italy – 2 Days
Florence, Italy – 2 Days
Barcelona, Spain – 3 Days (Will likely be flying to Spain from Italy)
Ibiza, Spain – 3 Days
Lagos, Portugal – 2 Days
The above itinerary has 55 of the 63 days used. This leaves me a 8 day cushion which I will likely use after Budapest, Hungary and before Rome, Italy.
In addition to any help anyone can provide about my itinerary and information about any hot nightlife places, hostels and the best type of train pass I should get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone in advance for any help you may provide.
I am leaving from Toronto with $10000 for 62 days

Looks good, I have a few concerns about your budget with all the flying around you have to do, but you could use WhichBudget…are you flying in and out of London? Isn’t it kind of a long ride between Ibiza and Lagos?
I would fly from Both to and from Dublin. London to DUblin by train and ferry kills a whole day. Dublin to Paris will kill almost all of 2 days. Flights (check Ryan air in addition to Cil’s suggestion) could easily be a cheap or cheaper than train + ferry + the light rail between Dublin and the ferry port.
Do you have a reason for 3 days in Vienna? Most of the alpine day trips are actually easier from Munich.
Spain to Portugal by train is not as easy as it may seem. I think you’ll need to fly. All this flying could make this a very hectic and tiring. Shrinking the geographic area you’re trying to visit will make a much more pleasant trip.
I second Oldlady’s suggestion on flying to and from Dublin, it will be much cheaper and faster.
Edinburgh, Madrid, London, Segovia, Santiago de Compostela, Toledo, Córdoba, Seville, Granada, Barcelona, Lyon, Nice, Paris, Bruges, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Berlin, Prague, Kutná Hora, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Füssen, Venice, Milan, Pisa, Florence, Siena, Rome, Pompei, Naples, Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Budapest, Hunedoara, Sighişoara, Bucharest, Sofia, Plovdiv, Istanbul, Selçuk
Porto, Guimarães, Lisbon, Tomar, Sintra, Evora, Lagos, Seville, Málaga, London
Thanks for all the input guys. I think shrinking the trip will be a smart idea especially given the fact that I will be spending alot on nightlife. I have decided that I will remove lagos from the trip. Thanks again guys/gals and any other help would be awesome!

You could save some money by finding cheap apartments to rent instead of hotels. Last summer I stayed in Rome apartments that were significantly cheaper than any hotels in the area.
