Hi!

So I’ll be traveling around Europe for 4-5 weeks mostly by myself.

I was trying to figure out if I should bring a netbook. One of those 3 pound, 10 inch laptops. That way I can transfer photos from my camera to the netbook to store and upload to the web for double backup.

Also, I will use it to apply for jobs online.

What are people’s thoughts about this?

Thanks!

I am leaving from San Francisco and traveling for 36 days
London, Paris, Bruges, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Munich, Venice, Florence, Rome, Athens, Barcelona

I love my netbook, but I haven’t decided whether to take it on the next eurotrip… 3 pounds is 3 pounds and since you probably won’t want to leave it lying around or only semi-secured at a hostel, you’ll probably be carrying that 3 pounds just about every minute.

I wouldn’t bother with it for photo uploading and photo back-up on a 35 day trip. If you intend to e-mail and perhaps blog every day and really will be applying for jobs, then I’d take it.

Check some old posts by “swill” for his take on carrying a laptop, wi-fi access, etc.
