Nice to Interlaken to Paris
Fri, 03/30/2012 - 09:30
Hi all,
Needing some help trying to figure out the best way to get between Nice to Interlaken to Paris. Most of the traveling that I’m doing this summer is with little flights but there aren’t many chartered airlines that fly into Switzerland [and particularly not into Interlaken obviously].
I’ve heard that the Swiss rail would be a good option but I find the site confusing to try and figure out whether it’s possibly to take a train between these three cities/two countries.
Any suggestions?
I am leaving from Toronto with $7000 for 71 days
Reykjavik, London, Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona, Nice, Interlaken, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Kraków, Budapest, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Rome, Cinque Terre, Venice, Amsterdam, Toronto

That route should take you about 9 hours with a few transfers. Take a look at bahn.de for for route info and schedules.

This isn’t really a great route by train. Nice to Interlaken is 9 to 11 hours and 2 to 6 transfers. This train ride will also be quite expensive. You can try the French rail website, www.sncf.com however, I’ve always found the Swiss rail website to be less confusing. www.tgv.com might be easier. This is not going to be a cheap trip.
Interlaken to Paris is a doable 5 or 6 hours with 1 or 2 connection. You can try to buy that ticket from the French or TGV website, but it might be cheaper from the Swiss site.
Isn’t there a better routing than Nice-Interlaken-Paris to cover these places in your itinerary? How about going Italy-Switzerland-France or vice versa?
