I will be getting a 15 day within 2 months rail pass and I am planning on taking about 4-5 night trains. I am concerned that the railpass will consider the 4-5 night trains as 8-10 day of use, is that right?

Not really, there is

Quote:
7PM rule: If you board a direct, overnight train after 7pm on a certain day, then only the following day (the day of arrival of the night train) is counted as a travel day.

The 7:00 PM rule should work for most of your overnight trips.  Just make sure the train leaves after 7:00 PM and there are no connections (stops are ok, but you can’t change trains) before midnight.

Usually you’ll have to pay a reservation fee for night trains as well, even with a pass.

With the pass jkfaust is right, you’ll have to pay for a reservation. For a night train you WILL NOT want to get a seat. You’ll want a couchette to sleep on. Everyone I talked to who got a seat in the overnight trains had nothing but regret.
