No idea what to wear in Sept/Oct
Sat, 06/17/2006 - 01:06
Hi, Im travelling to Uk and Europe at the end of August up until early October and I have no idea what clothes I should be packing. The main areas in Europe I will be visiting is France/Italy/Switzerland/Germany/Poland/Czech Rep/Amsterdam and will also be going to Scotland and Ireland. If someone could please give me a rough idea of what sort of clothes I should be taking with me I would really appreciate it. I want to take in to consideration the weather conditions around that time of year. Thanks again.

in sept u could get the residual warmth of the hot summer
already in zagreb in croatia it was about 30 degrees in mid june..it seemed to have warmed up a lot and vienna too was ‘tshirt land’ by the end of our visit
so
take layers
think tshirt then a light sweater..i got some from doublebay clothing store..for 15 bucks each ..light and stretchy cotton mix that i thought would fall apart but they were brilliant..thin but warm..and dressy looking…best of all u could take it off and scrunch it up in ur handbag without it looking like a rag the next day
cos of the price and the weight i bought three..a mint green one.. a black and a teal…i coordinated the colours with the long sleeve tshirts i was taking so that it looked like an ensemble…that way ilooked fine for the night time too..and the pashmina added unbelievable class and iq points ..especially if ur an aussie like me abroad ..i swear!! hahahahaha..eyes never strayed to the old runners i wore…they were just mesmerised by the pashmina! lol
then i had a fleece jacket from kathmandu ..59 bucks and worth every dollar..it was bright red and i find this colour looked great as focus in pics..
mind u
stone colours ..beige black and browns look great if u take pics round old cities..it comes out very harmonious looking…u kinda blend in with the surroundings..but a touch of red cheers it up and adds the focal point
(hmm didnt know i was so marvellous at giving out photo hints considering i have owned a digital for only three months lololol!!!)
it was an accident but my guy wore the same colours some days..our jackets were similar…no..we were not the bobbsey twins from hell but in the pics it looks great when we are wearing similar colours so i think ill be wardrobe coordinator for the next trip lol)
if u get to vienna and ride the prater wheel and if u choose to buy the photo at the end of the ride ( its a scream the way they take the pic) do wear red cos u match the surrounds…and that is VERY important!
have fun
i did and im planning our next trip as soon as i unpack!
oh and doooooooooooooo take a raincoat….and keep it in ur daypack at all times
Hey thanks Sparks, it was really great to hear from you. I really need to go and do a bit of shopping before I head over. Where I live there is just nothing in the shops, so I might have to head down to Brissy for the weekend. The problem is up here the only clothes I’ve seen that are even remotely what Im looking for, are all in mens sizes, its just ridiculous. Sounds like you are quite the fashion guru
. I have heard the weather over there can be quite up and down especially in the UK, so I definitely want to be prepared for anything. Was actually thinking of whether we would be able to fit Vienna into our trip but wasnt sure if it was worth it. How did you find it when you where there, do you think it is worth seeing? Well anyway thanks for the Fashion tips, muchly appreciated.
a fashion guru ,,oh lol… yes ill have them chisel that onto my tombstone..as well as ‘chief photographer navigator translator and general panic station master’!
thanks, aussie girl !
yes, vienna is worth it.. both the city and the wooded outskirts
i have seen innsbruck b4 but vienna (and i hear salzburg) are great
