OK, I know this doesn’t belong on a web site about travelling in Europe…but I plan to backpack in North America next summer or autumn, and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a good website about backpacking there? I have been searching all over the net and found tons of ‘backpack Europe’ sites…but nothing about USA or Canada.
And then I thought, ‘hey, if I hang around a bulletin board about [overseas people] travelling in Europe although I’m European, there must be some Americans/Canadians around who are willing to share some information about their countries’…or maybe someone who has actually been backpacking over there? I don’t have any specific questions yet (as I haven’t planned very much), I’d just like to know about good (and cheap) ways to travel, accommodation and so on…
I plan to do a sort of a pan-American tour, starting in New York and then across the continent. I will visit some friends and relatives who all live relatively close to the border between Canada and the US, so that is where I will be most of the time.
Any ideas, tips, links etc are greatly appreciated!
