NYC to Venice or Rome
Fri, 07/09/2010 - 05:19
Anyone have any tips for me for all August?
The standard inexpensive flights I would use on Eurofly are gone. They apparently don’t fly from NYC to Rome or Venice anymore.
The best I have found now is Delta at $1200. A nonstop flight is good.
Is there a better fare out there, or another secret airline like Eurofly?
Thanks

Eurofly are now only to Naples and Palermo from NYC, if I recall. Delta are flying JFK-Pisa, sort of a lesser-known route which sometimes has been a little cheaper than others to Italy I’ve seen so far.
There’s a seasonal price drop starting from the 29th—if you can shift your August outbound that late. $787 as long as Pisa is in the itinerary; for example JFK-PSA / MIL-JFK with Delta. I found these with ITA software. If you’re not familiar with ITA, here’s some info on how to use it: http://www.eurotrip….
Be sure to check consolidators also, such as Flights, 1800flyeurope, Airdeals, OneTravel, ATIflights, EconomyTravel, Tiss, and meta-searches such as BookingBuddy, Cfares, Kayak, and Momondo. You might find better than the 787 published fare. (Consolidators sell “unpublished” fares).
Thanks Don,
Yes Eurofly only goes south now. Dammit
After Aug 29? Naw that is too late, wife is a professor.
And then Pisa in the itinerary? You mean if I connect a flight through there, or do I have to fly in and stay? $787 would be worth the rearrangement.
Thanks for the ITA tutorial. I have looked at ITA before but didn’t get it.
It keeps showing $1247 for a connecting flight, not as good as the $1202 direct on Delta website.
Now I will try to learn the consolidators.
BTW, I learned a lot about the code share business from a recent Frontline program; excellent. Watchable online from their site – episode “flying cheap”.
I may have another question about the consolidators, but please answer my Delta questions.
Thank you
