For a Few Drachmas Less a Five-Night Athens Package For As Little As $599!
We’re not certain why, maybe it’s a Kosovo hangover, but Athens is reportedly doing an
especially sluggish tourism business at the
moment. A source reveals that on a recent visit, "there were far fewer people than I’ve come to expect in Athens at this time of year." Whatever the peculiar reason for this (and we can’t think of a reason that wouldn’t be peculiar), it has stimulated one of the hottest bargains to Greece that we’ve seen in some time.
This offer comes, as so many Greek bargains do, from long-time tour operator Homeric Tours, and it gives you five nights in a centrally located tourist-class hotel plus round-trip air fare from New York, all for prices as low as $599/person (based on double occupancy) for travel between October 30 and March 24. (To put this in perspective, last year Homeric’s lowest price for six nights’ hotel plus air fare to and from New York at this time of year was $729.)
As was the case last year, the hotel available at this price level is the Athens Gate, a pleasant, tourist-class property well-located near the Parliament, right off
Constitution Square. (Daily breakfast is part of the package as well.) Flights (on Saturdays only) are on Alitalia. Also included in the price are transfers and hotel
taxes, as well as a half-day city tour. Not included are airport taxes and charges. In addition, we should mention that there’s a holiday blackout period on this offer between December 14 and January 3.
To book or get more information, call Homeric Tours at 800/223-5570, or visit its Web site:www.homerictours.com.
