I started this topic really just to have a specific thread for recommending specific items or tricks. Here’s two to start the ball rolling:

- I take a clean basketball sock – one of the thick, terrycloth ones – cut off at the ankle. By stretching it over my hand I can use it for a washcloth and don’t have to worry about dropping it in a dirty hostel shower.

- Today I bought some individually-wrapped nail polish remover pads. Each is about the size of those little hand cleaner packets you often get in fast food restaurants. I’m going to take a couple of these with me on my next trip next month.
