Hi Shon,
I’m really going to try to make a side trip into Ethiopia when I’m back in that area in October/November. Could you help me with some questions please? They are mainly to do with the cost of things:
How much (in Ethiopian birr) should I pay for a taxi from the airport to the center of Addis?
Is public transport relatively safe to use? I ride the minibuses in Uganda, but steer clear of the matatus in Kenya since the drivers seem so suicidal there! How much in birr are short hops around the city using public transport?
How much in birr from Addis to Lalibela using public transport (bus or whatever)?
How much in birr for a packet of cigarettes (local, not import) and a bottle of water?
Thanks for your help with these! I hate to sound obssessed with money, but I always like to have a baseline to use when sorting out the relative cost of things when travelling to new places, and cigarettes/water/bus/taxi prices seem to be the most immediately useful.
Cheers
mouse
PS: Do you and your husband have any plans to go back for a visit anytime soon?
