A vast collection of artifacts and ruins, the Palatine Hill is just south of the forum and was once home to the Roman elite. Antony, Cicero, Tiberius, and Augustus Caesar all enjoyed the good life atop the hill. The Flavian Palace is one of the more remarkable sites as it extends across the hill and overlooks both the Forum and Circus Maximus. This palace was the home to numerous emperors and eventually became so large that it overtook most buildings on the hill. Also be sure to visit the Palatine Antiquarium, a museum that has artifacts on display.
