Paris to Barcelona night train
Thu, 03/15/2007 - 22:49
Hi there!
I’m looking for booking advice for an overnight train from Paris to Barcelona in early April — should I book in advance and what website do you recommend? What is a good fare? On www.eurorailways.com there is a 50% off sale right now where you get a tourist T4 shared cabin for $102US…can I do better than that? Has anyone booked with eurorailways before?
Any advice is much appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Eurorailways.com and the other sites that sell railpasses usually inflate the price for point to point tickets by 30 to 35% plus shipping and handling fees. However, given the current exchange rate, this price isn’t that bad. There’s a $12 handling fee on orders of less than $300 and an $8 “premier train fee” for a total of $122. You can buy the ticket on-line from the French National railway company” www.sncf.com for 79 euros (about $105). Regular price for this ticket is 135 euros (about $180) , so the $204 regular price (which changes to $264 if you actually try to buy it) is pretty far out of line.
You can probably fly this on Easy Jet for the same price as the special train fare.
its much cheaper to fly from paris to barcelona …… RYANAIR.com
