Picture taking options

When I go to Europe in May I will probably be taking my digital camera, and was wondering if any places similiar to kinko’s exist over there? I was wondering if I could like fill up the memory on my camera then have the pictures burned onto a CD or e-mailed back to me so I can then take more. Or, should I just get a regular camera and get the pictures developed over there?
THanks
Cris

In Belarus, and quite possibly Albania (dwop???) the answer would be no. The rest of Europe is in the same century as you are, and has technology.
It is possible to find what you talk of in the homeland I come from, Albania. We have shops run by nouveaux entrepreneurs who can take these pieces out of your digital camera, and transcribe the images either onto a CD for your convient or onto photo papers for your viewing pleasure.
Ibrahim my driver may be hired for such excursions. He is very affordable.
I think you will find many things to take memories of in Albania. JBOY knows of this, he is very freindly to me and the Albanian nation
I had to do a little looking around to find a place to burn a CD in Suceava, Romania, but had no problem anywhere else, including Ukraine, elsewhere in Romania, Slovenia and Croatia.
I take both a digital and a film camera. In some circumstances, light situations, etc. one or the other is significantly better. If I was limited to one, I’d probably take the digital.
Well my trip included the london, edinburgh, and paris. So I am assuming I shouldn’t have any problems?? I’m not a big fan of disposable cameras as I have never found one that takes good pictures. Should I just stick to the digital?
Cyber cafes are popping up everywhere. Bring along the USB link cable that came with your camera and you will be able to burn your images to a CD. I bring along an X-Drive Pro with me on my trips, allowing me to never worry about running out of memory.
Do a search on this site for "X-Drive Pro," "USB", "Digital Camera" and the like on this site and I’m sure you’ll come up with some great ideas. Search is located at the top of this page near the LOGOUT button.
kahunna you are really getting to be a pain in the ass. "The search button is located next to the logout button" Great. Thanks for the fun and helpful tip.
It used to be that travellers could come here looking for information, now they simply get scolded and talked down to by "travellers" that are so damn insightful and full of themselves that it’s absurd. I mean you’d think that Kahunna had his own travel show based on the way he is full of himself.
Get back down to earth people
Hmm, and you choose that as your first post? Bullshit.
Why don’t you use your real id here instead of some alter?
Perhaps you should think that people like Kahunna, and others who have devoted HOURS of THEIR FREE TIME to HELP people and don’t see the point jumping and explaining the perfectly obvious that people are too lazy to the wise thing, which is hit search.
If you want a page full of people asking how much should they budget or are their restauraunts in Europe go make your own page.
Some of us have invested a great deal of our time in this site and with its immense difficulties still try our best to make it a helpful and fun site. We don’t have stickies, we don’t have moderation – from time to time we have to take vigilante justice.
If we have to be rude about it sometimes, thats life, get a fuckin helmet.
sick i can see your point from one angle, but from the other, I think that some people on here get full of themselves. thats why i said kahunna. alot of people on this site have been places he’s been, maybe with the exception of latin america, but certainly to cro & mont. Ive seen the posts on here from the others. But somehow people practically revere him on here for no particular reason.
enough of my rant. ok you get the point. its just that I think some people on here forget that they are on an amateur travel site and start to think they’ve made it big. There are som contributors on here that have been at it since day one and some who are actually pretty big time.
Thanks for your civil response, I feel a bit bad about being hostile with my response. A bit!
I do see what you mean. Backpacking is supposed to be fun, not a job, or it certainly ISN’T something unique that others are simply unable to do. Whenever something gets taken really seriously it sucks the fun out of it. A lot of people aspire to be a brilliant traveller or journo but what are the chances really? I have done some writing for the sole purpose of getting a few chuckles out of my friends and family. Thats good enough for me.
Still, if you want to find your way around Europe, a good way to practice is by finding your way around a website!
yeah sickboy, thats pretty much exactly what I am getting at. Not like there is anything wrong with travel writing and things like that, but when someone starts to think too much of themselves, thats what I am getting at. its just funny more than anything i guess.
and more than anything, the reason i singled him out, which prob wasnt fair of me, is becauuse it think it always seems like he acts like there is only one way to do things, his way. like exactly what HE brought on his travels, and why that is the ONLY thing that will work for you. i guess im just in a pissy mood and it struck me the wrong way and wanted to call him out on it.
so kinda like the newbies post that was here a bit back, lets use this one to return a little of the humiity to the site & remember like sickboy said, we do this for FUN.
all to often now it seems like people get so pissed off so quick at the newbies who might ask a question twice. yeah i do too, and its funny to make funny of in certain threads, but when it comes down to it, its downright rude to talk down to people in the threads the create.
so engouh of my diatribe. and as to the quiestion of whether or not im an alter or a first time poster, ill leave that up to you. all i will say is that i havent posted in quite some time, and felt it that i had to post again for the reasons i detailed above. some good stride have been made on this board w/o moderator help to clean it up like the helpful hints, newbie thread, etc. i just wanted to cut out some of the ugliness and get back to what we all really love, travel and backpacking.
remember peple, oit’s fun, and there is no right or wrong way to do it. just because you dont like to take long night trains, someone else might for example.
anyhow enough of my whining. good night
Hopee…
All said and done..you need to watch your words…when you are in a public forum.
Kahunna..was just saying what he did/does…
And if a little line about `search’ bothered you..move..on!
Atleast Kahunna..has made a greater contribution to this site than you or I have.
My .02…and..no..I don’t want any hatemail.
hopee,
People are on this board asking for advice. You make it seem like a crime if another person wants to give it to them. It’s also not unreasonable to ask someone who is researching a trip to Europe to do a little more research and look for answers themselves. Lots of newbies either want to be spoon-fed or don’t know how the site works. If it’s the latter, there’s no harm in instructing them.
ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, I didn’t mean to start a fight here. I was just curious about using a camera thats all.
Don’t worry about it, Cris. It was a good question. Let us know if the search button didn’t help and we’d be glad to try to assist some more. I hope you didn’t find offense with my first response. I wasn’t insinuating that you should click on the logout button (like someone else obviously thought), I just was using it as a reference.
